Wasn't a huge fan of the show, it was just to convoluted and tried too hard to be on the edge to the point of confusion.

I loved this show back in the day! I'm really excited. I wonder how many of the original cast will be back...

That's David Lynch. I loved every second of it.

And Audrey Horn. Deeply.

I actually liked the show as convoluted as it was. I just don't know if it will resonate with people 20 years later.

Agreed. Strange and different and edgy are great, but it has to make a small amount of sense and have a point. David Lynch is a bit too artsy fartsy for me. Maybe he's a genuis but I'm more inclined to believe he just has his head up his own ass.

Ever see Mullholland Drive? Same thing.

May 21st start date. Looks like showtime / 'the movie network' will have it. Set your dials!

So no love for this epic event?? I thought it was pretty lynchian. More along the lines of eraserhead and blue velvet. Glad they spread the wings to include new locations and new actors. Creepy as ever! It is also on crave.. no excuses!

Still felt like twin peaks while expanding on the size and scope of the story, which is no small feat. I love how weird it is, twin peaks doesn't remind me of anything else and it's weirdness is held together by a masterclass storyteller. I give big points for that in an age where everything just seems to be a slight variation of something else.

e: they updated the soundtrack, which was necessary but I did miss hearing the three same damn songs all the time.

I don't know much about Twin Peaks, however I do know I have been seeing a lot of cherry pie cross promotion lately which is making me very hungry.

Is watching the original required for this? I only made it about 3/4 through season one years ago.

sort of, they seem to be keen to the fact that most people stopped watching half way through the second season. If you couldn't finish the first season the new stuff may not hold you, but it is r-rated this time around.

I think the only things you really need to know to get caught up is (majorest of spoilers):

Spoiler!

Hrmm, interesting:
Quote:
“Quite by accident, Lynch, a filmmaker known for his cryptic, sometimes cranky deflections of ‘What does this mean?’–type questions, is about to embark on a trolling expedition through the most tediously literal-minded era of film and TV fandom — a period in which social-media users and media outlets (including this one) fall over themselves to parse the microscopic details of mythology-rich shows, and producers participate in ‘exit interviews’ and electronic press-kit sit-downs, live tweets and liveblogs, Facebook videos, and Reddit AMAs,” Setiz wrote.
The only way to enjoy Twin Peaks is to let Lynch grab you by the hand and let him take you on a wild, weird journey that will have you screaming in frustration by the end of it. Trying to make sense of the nonsensical, no matter how beautiful it may be, will only result in disappointment.
Let’s let TV have this one, internet pals.

No spoilers or anything here, just a discussion about avoiding the "we must figure this out" angle.

I'm just about done season 1, figured it'd be worth watching before I start the new series, and based on what I've read, screwing with the audience is part of the fun.

I don't know any major spoilers, but I do know that the killer angle was intended to be a mccguffin by lynch and the other creator wanted to actually solve the mystery.

Even though the show was acclaimed, it ended up getting cancelled because of the murder mystery hype. As soon as the killer was revealed about 1/3 thru season 2, the ratings completely tanked and the show was cancelled.

I would assume that this time we won't get any firm answers. Not to mention if there is one guy who is enough of a mind #### to overwhelm the internet detectives and keep people guessing, it is Lynch.

Even though the next two episodes aren't scheduled to air until this Sunday, they're already available on CraveTV.
