I always wonder what happens to guy like this once his trials (and potentially punishment) are over with. Unless he has money to live on for the rest of the life, what does he do? Seems like it would be impossible to get a job he'd want to do, unless he could find something in LA working behind the scenes somewhere (and would a conviction hamper that in terms of being able to work down there?)

I think a lot of people change their names and start over somewhere else.

He's toast after this as far as media work is concerned, I'd guess if he can he'd move to the UK, he was born there. He could at least put some other career together there.

No real repercussions? Even if he is acquitted, he's ruined.

The people who conspired and mislead the police and the Crown to this point won't have anything happen to them. Which should not be the case.

What's your point? Are they idiots? Yes. But there is no mistaking that Jian Ghomeshi is a ####ing scum bag. That he might walk is because the crown was so woefully prepared and so inadequately prepped for this case, not that he has done nothing wrong. I do not feel that these charges were frivolous, made only with malicious intent or were not true in anyway (maybe Lucy's, but that's a different discussion). I feel that it was handled poorly by the people who were supposed to find justice for these women.

That Jian's career is ruined is on Jian and Jian alone. But that wasn't because of this trial. That was because of things he did in his workplace at the CBC. That he won't see time in jail or any serious repercussions because of this trial is what I meant.

Yeah, I could see him becoming an indie record producer or something in the UK. But even aside from his notoriety over this case, the problem with Ghomeshi is he's a controlling monster who was loathed even by the colleagues he didn't abuse. His assets were his voice and his ability to suck up to pop stars (and a prodigious work ethic). Those aren't going to be much good to him now.

Decision expected Thursday. Many believe he will be acquitted.

Jian Ghomeshi could resuscitate his career if he’s acquitted, PR experts say

Some image experts believe the 48-year-old radio personality could become a media star again — if he’s acquitted of all charges and shows ‘a little bit of humility.’

I didn't really listen or watch him before but I won't be doing that now after all of this. He seems a bit creepy and this whole thing hasn't helped his image at all. It will be interesting to see if he can regain his fandom again.

As his fan base was basically a macro-profile of his victim base, I think it is going to be pretty hard for him to achieve the level of success he had before. The article mentions Rob Ford as a public figure who was able to overcome obstacles in his career. Well, one, Rob Ford was liked because he was so flawed. As in, hey this guy is just like me kind of thing. And two, Rob Ford was accused of beating the crap out of multiple women while at the same time pretending to a good, doe-eyed feminist.

Maybe there is a radio station in Latvia that would hire Ghomeshi, but he doesn't get another shot at the CBC.

I could see him getting a radio job in the UK. A low-profile radio job.

Not a chance, the ghost of Jimmy Saville casts a long shadow there, he could get a job there but nothing high profile, certainly nothing public.

Same intonation every time.

I actually don't mind him, but that thing bugs me.

This is very hard to estimate. I'd say quite a bit more since, while it was a short trial with few witnesses, its clear they spent a lot of money and time on preparation, starting with substantial investigations. With all of the resources of the AG at their disposal, as many officers as they wanted, the Crown was too narrow in their investigation/due diligence while the defence spread their net wide-- and it paid off. Those cross examinations were not luck, they were planned and well-researched.
