Default Any cereal nerds here?

It's a snowy saturday morning (and a long weekend to boot) -- perfect time for a delicious bowl of cereal.

I admit I'm a cereal nerd. I have 15-20 boxes of cereal in a cupboard that's basically nothing but cereal. There have been times I've had cereal for dinner; other times I'll have a bowl of sweeter cereal (i.e. Frosted Flakes or Cinnamon Toast Crunch) for dessert. Wife thinks I'm weird; I'm pretty sure I've passed the cereal gene onto my 2.5 year old.

Grocery shopping is like buying stocks -- once the price of a cereal drops to a certain point, I know it's time to stock up

My favorite growing up was Honey Nut Corn Flakes; they discontinued that a long time ago, but I was happy to discover that they recently reintroduced it in the US (as "Crunchy Nut - Golden Honey Nut"). I opened the box, unsealed the bag, smelled inside and was immediately transplanted some 20 years. /coolstorybro

Other favorites include Oatmeal Crisp - Triple Berry, and Special K Fruit and Yogurt. Recently picked up Special K Multigrain Oats and Honey (also from the US) which is pretty good too. Lots of milk; sliced bananas as an added treat (but only on rare occasions).

What are your cereal preferences?

+1 for the leftover milk at the bottom of the bowl

I'll admit to not really eating cereal for many years, now with the kids in the house I am reconsidering that option. However I am thinking of going classic and just rocking Cheerios. Thoughts? It's supposed to be good for cholesterol control right?

Every now and then I will have some Quaker Oats oatmeal, apple cinnamon being my favorite.

VVV Oh man I loved Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but there just can't be anything healthy about it right?

There is a new cereal out now called Krave, it is some kind of good!

Honey Nut Cheerios is my go to box.

Cinnamon toast crunch is sooo good, but for some reason I don't buy it 'cause I feel too old for it. (Weird)

i enjoyed the honey nut fibre 1 cereal, found that kind satisfied my need for health and good taste.

late at night i'll go with corn flakes since they're so light and fluffy, they seem guilt free

I dislike Shreddies, as you have to shovel them down in 15 seconds before it turns into complete mush.
Cereal should be able to remain somewhat crunchy.

I don't have a large selection of cereals, but I tend to eat a certain type of cereals for a long time. I used to love Cinnamon Toast Crunch, then it was Honey Nut Cheerios, then it was Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, as of late it's been Brown Sugar Mini Wheats. So nothing very exciting, but when I find a flavour/type I like, I'll eat it until I get sick of it.

Haven't seen it yet. Last trip down to the US (a little less than a month ago), I brought four boxes back. I'm now down to two

They also have a "Caramel Nut" flavour, but it's not nearly as good as the "Golden Honey Nut" version.

Multigrain Cheerios, Vector, and Triple Berry Oatmeal Crisp. I just wish they sold the Oatmeal Crisp in decent-sized boxes - it's kind of annoying when you have to buy 2 boxes just to get through the week eating 1 bowl a day.

I'll only eat the diamonds. The squares are just awful.

Do they still sell Sugar Crisps?

How about Count Chocula?

But all ceral discussion starts and ends with Cap'n Crunch IMO.

that's not quite the same thing. Honey Corn Flakes was easily my favorite cereal until about 5 years ago when it was completely discontinued. if i ever see these boxes again, i'm buying all of them

Honey corn flakes would be some kind of awesome.

I used to really like Alpen; however, the last time I saw it, a box that would be two bowls was something like $8.

Next favourite cereal would be golden Graham's.....
