Default cool stuff for sale at auction

There's so much cool stuff for sale if you're a gazillionaire....I've read the Watch's You Wear thread so this is probably pocket change for a lot of locals.

Coolest thing coming up at Sotheby's tomorrow....Jim Morrison's note book...

http://www.invaluable.com/catalog/se...Ref=R45JNSZKE0

You can also get John Lennon's glasses, the original lyrics to Zeppelin's Kashmir. Some other must haves too. It's just money.

Here's what just sold in Toronto...

http://canadianart.ca/news/canadian-art-auctions/

New Record...11 million for a decent sized Lawren Harris painting. Sorry Emily Carr, you're old news now. The JEH MacDonald surprised me. Not very group of seveny for that price.

I was at the Hodgin's auction in Calgary last week and paintings are still selling very well but all other collectibles are in the tank...great time to buy crystal, pottery, jewelry, etc.

Grahams Auction is a fun Saturday mess if you like chaos...you can bid on toothpaste there.

I guess if you see something cool it goes here. Maybe it's a thread for online shopping addicts.

Every so often when there is a big lottery jackpot, I dream of winning it and keeping my same boring house but fill it full of amazing art. Win $50 million, drop a noticeable chunk on an original Tom Thomson. And probably a really good security system.

Invaluable does have some really nice stuff. The only thing I've bought on there so far is a nice Josef Albers screenprint from the 70s. Plenty of other things Id love to get though if there was more spending $$$ to be had.

John Lennon's signature glasses starting bid of $16k. Definitely thought those would be a lot higher. Although, I have no idea his glasses should be worth, $16k seems almost reasonable.

The section on animation art is also pretty impressive.

I do love the Lennon glasses. I get a lot of comments from young females regarding them. I'm not sure if many of them realize the connection to John.

I have a pair of those too. I love them. They are classic. Bought them online, so glad they turned out well. I was afraid they might be oversized like Harry Potter glasses.

I wonder how the real Lennon glasses ended up doing at auction. Is Beatles' merchandise cooling off?

Edit: Looks like they went for $43,000.

One of my bucket list things is to pickup a genuine trinket from an ancient civilization...a coin, statue etc from Rome, China, Persia etc that is legitimately over 2000 years old...

Would love to know where such items are sold LEGITIMATELY...its easy to find peddlers of fakes...

Owning a 2000 year old coin isn't that difficult to do really. They're very plentiful. Calgary Coin on Centre St S downtown sells ancient coins usually around $100-200
