Default Sutter pays QC a pre-deadline visit

QC Times

Not an atypicial piece on the farm team (Sutter noting he's generally pleased with overall progress). The rookies seem to be settling in fine. Matt Pelech, in particular, I suspect is rising up the depth chart with a bullet.

Perhaps we see some upward movement when roster limits are lifted.

Darryl Sutter says every Q-C player has a chance of being summoned on a moment’s notice, nice.

God have mercy on your sole if he brings his son up to calgary to play.

And you thought Ramholt was bad with his 45 second trip in calgary, I think that Sutters trip would be shorter.

Typically aren't players supposed to improve after camp as the season progresses?

I would really like to know what Darryl sees when he watches his son play. There are two or three guys in Vegas who could do a far better job for us right now than Sutter does.

I for one don't think it is a bad thing that the son of the GM is on the team. I am sure that the son can give insight to a different side of the character of the player that even a coach can't see.

If that was the case , I could see young Sutter being ostracized by the rest of the team. Darryl's too smart to put his kid in that situation.

The whole father son thing is too strange. No matter what happens, junior is either going to get too easy a ride or too hard a ride. I don't believe Darryl is objective enough to be able to single out his son as one of three that he is happy with.

I will always wonder if a) his scouts were kissing ass when they "came to Darryl" with the idea to draft Brett, and b) if Brett would have been drafted at all albeit a late 6th round pick was used (i see that mini Kostitsyn was still around at that point).

Sutter is just not in the same place as the other players because he grew up in the U.S. and didn't have the same hockey playing experience when he was younger.
