I have been a Beltline resident for over 10 years, started in university, and never left. One of the best neighbourhoods in any Canadian city.

Arbitrary lists are arbitrary. The fact that two virtually identical neighbourhoods beside one another rank so far apart speaks to the utter lack of rigour in establishing meaningful criteria for this ranking. My neighbourhood ranks in the top ten here, but it's pointless to feel any sort of pride out of it, knowing how dumb this ranking always is.

A list like this is probably good for a few laughs and nothing more. Lower Mount Royal didn't make it to the top 50 but the "Lawn" did.

As lame as these magazine lists are, I hope it at least teaches a few people that Kensington and Marda Loop aren't neighbourhoods.

This list has to be a troll job. I don't want to single out specific neighbourhoods out of respect for posters that may live in them, but there are some really crappy communities on there that truly don't belong.
The easiest way to make a list like this would be to rank communities by average home price. The market has already ranked the best communities naturally. In general, more expensive neighbourhoods with lakes are better. It's that simple.

Everyone is just jealous that I witnessed an assault on Friday, and the cops were right there. Such quick access to city services in the Beltline! We're number 1, we're number 1!

I didn't know Beltline was an actual hood. Thought it was the name for a group of hoods.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beltline,_Calgary
The City of Calgary recognizes four smaller neighbourhoods in Beltline including West Connaught, Connaught Centre, Victoria Crossing Centre and East Victoria Crossing.

I thought it was named after the old street car route.

Renfrew... Close to Downtown: Yes / Close to the River: No
How does one get from Renfrew to Downtown? Cross the river.

Huntington on the rise!
I'd be tempted to move back, but my current is #6 and I can't escape the Latte gravity.

The water in Lake Bonavista is disgusting this year. Im not sure whats causing the poor water quality but its definitely bad. That alone should bring the community down on the rankings list.
