It's at the foot of the Peace Bridge, on the south side.

Single dudes would be advised to sign up for this event.

This must be why that guy needed a white suit so bad in the suit thread. That makes sense.

My son & I saw at the Eau Claire area around 4:45-5:00pm bunch of folks getting together all in white... Even chairs & anything like coolers and anything they were bringing all in white.

I am a fan of underground supper clubs, but not this. This to me is exactly the opposite of a the supper club, brash in your face with corporate sponsors and a local mediocre chef. True supper clubs like in San Fran or even Vancouver are exclusive via a lottery but they are in a backyard, and the chef is often an up and coming local. Also, color is whatever you want, the point is to eat relaxed.

I don't get it myself as I think food should be about friends and food, drop the pretensions. Some of the best meals I have ever had were in a backyard, or a modest kitchen. I love to cook and I think stuff like this gives people in the food scene a bad image. Not mad, just don't get it.

Don't you bring your own food to this event? Like it's entirely byoE, and you are paying for the pretension?

Saw a bunch of people at North Hill mall by the train stop. I didn't really don't understand what was going on.

Lots of hate going on in this thread for something that likely didn't cause much disruption to your lives. Did the pretentious people not sit next to you on the train and avoid eye contact?

I went. I looked like Colonel Sanders. I wanted to punch all the other guys because they also looked like Colonel Sanders. Except that one bald guy who looked like Mr. Clean.

It was actually kind of fun. Ridiculous but fun. I guess some snotty Parisians wanted to be able to recognize other snotty Parisians at snotty events so they all stated dressing in white. Hence, the DIner en blanc.

The big mess was by design. We were supposed to leave garbage in white bags by the pathway garbage bins.

There was a drone. I hope my picture doesn't appear on the promo for next year but I suspect I'll just blend in.

I was surprised at the number of people moshing while holding glasses of red wine while wearing white.

The funniest thing was walking home and listening to some guy on the other side of the river yelling "WHY ARE YOU ALL WEARING WHITE!?"

Answer...."SHUT UP! YOU'RE FREAKING OUT THE SEA GULLS!

Also, white pants really do require white underwear.

I think this stems from the fact that this was a "look at me" event (No offense to those who went, but I am sure a large majority was there for that). This wasn't a group that got together in Fish Creek quietly to celebrate their love of food, wine, social events, or whatever. It was a pick a spot we can get lots of people to look at us, think we're cool, and pretend like we don't notice them. Then post all of it on our Facebook. It's showing off for the sake of showing off, "stunting" if you will.

As I said I don't get it. That is fine, I don't hate on people going out and having fun. However, if your going to do this in a very public spot for the purpose of getting noticed, and brag about it after you're going to open yourself up to criticism. Just the way it goes.

I saw some of the outfits, and I thought, wow, Calgary has gotten absolutely ridiculous in its pretentiousness.
