If you live in Asia, perhaps it isn't worth a visit.
If you don't live in Asia, though, I'd recommend it, as it is a clean and safe introduction to SE Asia (and a bit of India) with good, cheap food and enough attractions to keep someone busy for 2 or 3 days.
Plus, if you have to spend some time in an airport, Changi is one of the better ones to be stuck at.

If you're a foodie, or like big modern cities, Singapore is a great place. If you like nature, or some place more foreign or "edgy", then you might find it a little boring. I think it's a great place for a short, easy vacation. Plus I miss the food!

Singapore is an odd city. Its popular areas seem kind of sterile and overtly family friendly. Not as much personality as you might hope. Hard to explain without experiencing first hand.
However, if you make the effort to go a bit off the beaten tourist path you'll finf an incredibly vibrant city.
If you haven't been to Japan, go to Japan. Vietnam is also absolutely fantastic.

Yes, and not only visit Japan, go 'off the beaten track' Japan and visit Kyushu. This island is amazing, the 'real Japan' IMHO. Modern whle historic, clean, not crowded, mountainous, beautiful beaches, ocean, islands, cheap, foodie paradise. Most tourists around here are from China or Korea, would be cool to see a few more Euro's and N Americans discover this place.

And yes, I would say Singapore is worth visiting. If you have the budget, stay at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Most amazing pool in the World, I hard time getting out of it to do real sightseeing.
Besides Marina Bay Sands Hotel though, it is great to walk around Little India and even do some shopping (or people watching) on Orchard Road. I also enjoyed taking a stroll through the Botanic Gardens (free).
My other bit of advice, don't just do Singapore; combine it with a visit to Bali (either beaches and/or Ubud) or Malaysia... or if you're truly adventurous Sumatra and or Java. Easy to combine 2/3 days in Singapore with these other places.
Lastly, I am a travel agent... and although I am in Japan I offer hotel rates in USD$ or CAD$. PM me if you want some hotel suggestions and some pricing.
Curious, whereabouts in Asia are you?

I've got a 5 year old, so sounds like it could be good for us. That hotel looks pretty amazing too. Thanks for the advice guys!

I'm staying here right now at Marina Bay Sands.
Just had a jug of beer in the infinity pool for $60.
It's something I'd only do once.
Singapore is ok, enjoyed Hong Kong way more.

Yep, once is enough.. but then again for the most part once is enough to travel to any destination on Earth. So many places to travel to in the World, that I don't have enough time in my life to visit too many places the same time
