RW Josh Anderson has asked for trade from Columbus BJs
Friedman is reporting Josh Anderson has asked for a trade after a long stalemate in contract negotiations:

My thoughts on the subject

Don't think he will ever be the true #1 RW the Flames need but he could be the complementary type RW that could fill out the Monahan line.
The risks are that Anderson's 17 goal season with a 15% shooting percentage is another Bouma/Jooris like blip of a scoring outbreak and he will never reach that level again.
He could also be no better than Ferland, other than being a right shot. So acquisition cost combined with risk might be a non-starter.

If the price is right, go for it. If he's legit then he'd be a solid addition to the top 9.
There's still less risk in signing Jagr for a year. But if a big young kid is more appealing to mgmt then so be it.

Is this going to cost something like a Kyllington and a draft pick or more?
It is intriguing but I'll admit that I know very little about this guy.

Far better investment for our RW than Jagr, IMO.

RW is a need for us, not that he is necessarily a top 6 level player, but might work his way there. Acquisition cost is the question.

Depends on the acquisition cost. Who goes the other way?

At what price though, because Jagr is free...

Using one of our defensive prospects to fill a hole is almost inevitable.

Not entirely sure.
But that fact that he has demanded a trade publicly is likely to make him cheaper to acquire today than yesterday.
Especially at the end of training camp when rosters are nearly set. Would probably cost more on July 1 than October 1.

CBJ didn't want to include him in a deal for Duchene, don't think we have the assets to acquire him.

Jarmo denying this report:
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Further to @FriedgeHNIC, Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen tells me he's not aware of any trade request from Anderson; team focused on signing him

This would appear to be a solid option for either the Monahan or Bennett line

Tre has made some bad moves, Lazar, Shinkuruk and this could end up being another.

The story has been updated by Friedman:
Quote:
After the original publication, Columbus GM Jarmo Kekalainen reached out.
“This trade request is news to me,” he said. “And we are not looking to trade Josh Anderson.”
This might be an issue of semantics… that the idea of a sign-and-trade was broached, but it’s clear a difficult negotiation has taken its toll.

If the kid is having a hard time negotiating a new contract with the BJs it won't be any easier for his agent dealing with BT.

According to a report both sides are only $150k/year apart. Looks like principles and egos are in the way for both sides.
Also Anderson's agent is the same agent as Sam Bennett.

What are the salary demands? I think if he gets a Ferland deal, it might be worth it.

Shinkaruk was a bad move? Meh Granlund was likely waived and lost for nothing last year anyway.
Lazar has played 4 games and a couple preseason games. Pretty early to call that a bad move.
Depends the asking price but Treliving is likely involved in discussions
