Random, but when I dropped off my sister at the airport yesterday I noticed that they've built a Shell gas station with a Tim Hortons where the old cell phone lot used to be. Not yet open I believe.

So there would actually be a place to refuel your rental car before returning it? We're really moving up in the world!

In theory, but the pumps will all be taken by the taxi drivers who went inside to use the bathroom and otherwise are in no hurry.

WestJet announces year round for Tokyo-Narita service (3x weekly winter), and Paris goes daily over the winter to match London.

Fantatsic. The WestJet flight to Narita was pleasant and had decent food and beverages. It really felt like a more comfortable experience than when AC was flying, although it was quite a busy flight. Still, ANA is a great airline to fly if you get a chance to do YVR-Tokyo as well.

To be fair, AC was operating the 767-300 on that route at the time. I don't think it ever got to 787 service before being pulled.

Yes, this exactly!
It's a pain flying to Europe when its not summer. This will add another option. Plus, a nice flight deal could turn into a great ski weekend in the Alps

In the last few days there have been many of these newly loaded off-season flights to Paris (Oct '24 to March '25) available in the high $400s to low $500s roundtrip. But they've only been available when searching for 1 ticket at a time. List of remaining dates on the front page.
I'm fairly sure we'll see cheap ones to CDG at various points throughout the year. Even last year, when it wasn't daily, off-season flights to Paris were one of the most common cheap flights to Europe.

More direct Westjet Tokyo flights are great, but every time I look at flights, the Westjet option is significantly more expensive than the others (ie. AC connecting in Vancouver). So far it hasn't made the direct flight worth it.
