Pretty easy to give the thing a heart attack chasing it like that. Stupid Canuck fans, this video is great evidence, hope they get charged.

Going in I figured this is something that only a FSJer would do... And it was.
No need to throw the Canuck fan label around though

It's hard to see in the video, but at 3.29, you can see a tattoo of the Canucks logo on his right man-breast.

This is disgusting, the poor moose could've easily exhausted and drowned.

Wish I knew what went through peoples heads when they thought something like this would be "fun". Idiots indeed.

Dude is lucky the moose didn't kick his head in. An adult moose can weigh 400-700 lbs.

^ I have no idea why people upload what they do to YouTube.
From posting racing videos to bridge / train jumping people are getting charged based on something they voluntarily uploaded. Which IMO is usually dumber than the initial act.
In this case I hope this guy is charged heavily. People that stop on the side of the road to take pics of large wildlife rgmg but this is way beyond...

I was just going to say this. Why can't folks just leave nature alone? If you don't take your personal safety seriously, that is your own deal, but leave the animals alone.
However I do need to disagree slightly with you in that stopping to take pics is OK as long as you aren't disrupting traffic or the animal. People who try interacting with the animal GMG.

I'm surprised the guy survived. That could've easily been not so funny for him. Idiots.

I don't know if it's true or not, but the rumour on social media is that these guys got hit with a $2500 fine and had their boat seized.

If the animal is OK that is a just punishment in my opinion. If the moose ended up drowning or having a heart attack or something, I'd say $10k and community service.

Which is virtually impossible. For the average tourist/photographer they're stopping on the side (or in) the road, followed by 20 other cars and pedestrians, now that impacts traffic.
Generally speaking the animal isn't that far away (if being spotted from the highway), and taking photos of let's say a bear 100 feet away now acclimatizes that bear to people. (not to mention is completely stupid from a personal safety standpoint). Getting within a stone's throw from an animal is interacting with it.
And a wild animal that isn't afraid of people is now an extremely dangerous animal (and can be the cause for destroying animals). Coming across animals that aren't afraid of people concerns me in the wilderness.
The only way you're going to take pics of wildlife without disturbing them is with a massive zoom lens and camo or a hunting blind, which is fine, but that's not what I'm talking about and won't happen from the side of the road.

I don't think it was that dangerous. Since the moose was in deep water it couldn't really kick or get on top of him.
Honestly, this was funny. I wouldn't have done it and I would have discouraged my friends from doing it, but it is still funny albeit a pretty big ####### move.
Of all the cruel things people do to animals, this doesn't even register. Just overly sensitive Internet warriors getting all excited over nothing. The moose wasn't harmed. Have you ever seen a horse being broken (we ride those, remember?)? It's much more dramatic and seemingly stressful for the animal. How about the Stampede? Steer roping? Bull riding? How many of you guys are going to get drunk and cheer those on in a couple of weeks?
Would you rather be a steer that gets lassooed multiple times a night all summer long, or this moose that some guy hopped on top of for 30 seconds and then lived out the rest of its life in its mountain paradise? I'm sure the guy hopped off the back of this moose and everybody went on their merry way after. It's not like he killed it for its antlers, which is something many don't seem to have a problem with.
