So my prediction is they swing a trade and draft Trevor Connelly.

I'm curious to find out how far his red flags push him down the draft order and what is the threshold for when a team makes a move for him. Is it 17th overall or 42nd overall?
I would take him with our second first. For me just depends on whether the scouts think the off ice stuff can be changed or not. He would probably be bordering top ten without the issues if i had to guess .

Connelly, Helenius, Hage, Yakemchuk are all guys I can see the flames trying to move up their Vancouver pick to take

I think that is it. When the playoffs first start, they want to keep the news cycle focused on that when it's all new and exciting. Then once there is a little bit of dead space, they throw in the draft lottery to make a bit of a news item. They do the same thing when announcing award finalists. They stretch the news out a little bit for news cycle purposes, but they could just do it all at once if they wanted.

The Flames will win the lottery one day.

But it will be at a time when there is no net benefit in doing so, and in fact, some weird coincidence will make it a net negative, that pushes the organization back several years.

But they will win the lottery.

I’ll be a year when we’re sitting 16th, the Oilers 1st, and we’ll only jump up to 6th.

Lottery artistry? Is that why they say "draw the winner"?

8. Flames squeak into 8th spot in 2027 and beat Vancouver in the first round.
9. Flames get swept handily in the second round by the Celebrini led Ducks.
10. Flames wallow in mediocrity for the next decade, often drafting 16th, when they haven't traded it for those post apex vets.
11. Edmonton is still No Good.
12. Iginla has a stellar career.
Nice try Brad.

Don’t you have a first round to lose?

Pretty sure sarcastic CP posts don’t impact the future nor reality.
