You do know that cap space accrues everyday? So the longer you wait even one day makes a difference and then not calling them up till the last game also saves cap.

Plus like I said it’s game 81. Sounds like 4+ sitting for game 82. Then we don’t start till Monday. Plenty of rest.

You're only allowed four callups post deadline. The Oilers used up their final three yesterday.

It's not just about rest but injury risk. Especially their top player who just came back from an injury. They might not have been overworked like they have all year but they still had the top ice-time for forwards.

It ended up not going bad for them last night but it easily could have.
