Here's a great write up:
http://exclaim.ca/music/article/the_...ria_bc_july_22
And my comments:
One thing the writer missed, and it was something I didn't realize until I thought about it today, was the stage setup. At the beginning the band was very tight together for the "Up to Here" stuff which I think was symbolic of their early days and performing on small, crowded bar stages. Once they finished the "Up to Here" portion, they widened out into a more traditional arena arrangement. I also think there was some hidden metaphor in Gord's outfits but still trying to figure it out.

Did he mention the cancer at all or speak to the end of life and the emotion of touring one last time, or did he just stick to performing?

As that final classic ended, the band left the stage, leaving only Gord and the audience. The most powerful moment of the evening didn't even have music. It was Gord Downie, face on the hi-def screen for all to see, receiving the love and admiration he's more than earned over 30 years of being the face of Canadian rock, blowing a kiss to the crowd and saying "Goodbye." We love you. Thank you

Yeah the closest he got was the "This for dear old dad. He died. #### happens" comment.

Just got back from Vancouver show. Anyone who is remotely a hip fan should go. Tickets for the Calgary show are really cheap on stubhub right now.
I also met David Putty after the concert. My 17 year old self had the best night ever.

There is a lot of tickets for the Aug 3 show. It looks like they're even selling sections behind the stage and those are all listed for $40 on Stubhub.

Lots of variance between the set lists so far. I might have to get tickets for the show on the first as well

Love the variance between the first two setlists - it's great that they mix it up.
Really looking forward to the show a week from tonight. I will undoubtedly spend too much money on merch.
As for song hopes? Small Town Bringdown and Cordelia.

In Vancouver, they have a merch table set up outside the stadium that is running between the two shows. If they have a similar thing in Calgary, you could grab what you need without having tickets.

My seats last night were behind the stage and they were great. Gord gave us plenty of attention and for what we couldn't see there was a big screen in front of us.
When they zoomed in on Gord during Grace, Too, the crowd exploded unlike any at any other show I've been to. Wonderful concert.
Here's the view before the show

I bought tickets behind the stage yesterday for $14 because of this thread for the Aug 3 show. Awesome to see it's so open, looking forward to it.
When I was in the middle of nowhere Uzbekistan in 2014, I was feeling a little homesick, so I downloaded the Hip's greatest hits and would walk around the old dilapidated Soviet city of Nukus while listening to it.

After three shows, they've only played 5 songs at all three shows: http://www.setlist.fm/stats/the-trag...hine+Poem+Tour
A completely different show each night.
