Never stayed there but the location is excellent and my friend said the rooms are really nice, no reason to hesitate IMO.

Likely the nicest rooms of any hotel I've stayed at. It is a giant hotel, so it can be a trek to your room, but my wife and I enjoy staying there and the casino is really nice as well. One of the better pools on the strip as well.

Don't hesitate on Aria; it is a tremendous hotel and with all due respect to MGM, which has a lot of excellent things in its favor, Aria is better.

It's cleaner, newer, higher-end overall and location is fantastic on the Strip at City Center.

To this day, my wife contends that Aria (and Vdara) are the best beds we have ever slept on. Really liked the casino and restaurants too. We've stayed in MGM pre-renovations, like it but Aria blows it out of the water for room quality. The walking distances to get around the resorts are comparable, MGM pool is a bit more extensive.

Location wise, Aria has a slight edge. It is closer to the centre of the strip but it is set back quite a ways. There is the monorail though.

MGM has a Fat Tuesday, which can be important.

Best hotel on the strip in my opinion. If you can get a deal there, you should snap it up.

So when dates aren't a restriction and you plan to go on a week day, is there a better way to search for random week day deals where Hotels are like OK we know we are going to be dead lets dump some rooms cheap, or is it just the luck of the draw from checking different dates on expedia?

The best hotel rates are offered through M life and total rewards web sites.

If anyone is headed down to Vegas this weekend and staying until late monday or tuesday, there will be an open house for the new T-Mobile arena Monday August 1 10am-9pm and Tuesday August 2 4pm-9pm

just a quick comment on expedia - if you book a room thru expedia the hotels seem less inclinded to help you out - for example, if you book a room thru expedia and need a late check-out the hotel will likely want you to pay the rate for an extra nights stay. last time we went to LV, we booked thru expedia and our flight home was not until 8 pm - so we had to pay $60 for an additional night and the guy at the conceierge desk said it was because we booked thru expedia.

I'd suggest using expeida as a comparsion tool and then call the hotel directly and see if you can get a similar rate.

Stayed at the Aria twice now, and wouldn't hesitate to book it a third time.

Within the hotel itself the cheap food/booze options are somewhat limited, although there is a Starbucks & convenience store located near the pool/spa area of the hotel. However there is a food court (or at least was) underground between Aria/Monte Carlo if I recall.

And you're connected to the Bellagio via the free mono-rail.

As far as "in room comfort" go I think the Aria wins hands down, it's clean, modern, and quiet enough to be a nice break from the constant bells & lights of Vegas. You'll even get a good night's rest as the rooms/halls are quiet.

But if you're going with a group of guys and looking a bit of an action/party hotel you might want to shop around. Going as a couple the Aria is perfect.

**EDIT** Did I just reply to a 3 month old post? Ugg, take away my internet card.

We're heading down on the 25th. I've been in August before, it is unreal how hot it can get. Much less wandering the strip (even at midnight it is oppressively hot) much more hanging by the pool. We chose MGM this trip mainly because they have a great pool.

Thanks, I may melt. Assuming I don't melt walking over there.

I've been therein July before. It was 40. We leave tomorrow morning and it's supposed to be 46 with a heat warning (which suggests to stay inside and not drink alcohol). I think i'll be omitting that alcohol component, as drinking is all I plan to do.

Was just there this past weekend, temperatures hit 43, stayed at the MGM and hung out at the pool during the days mostly. One day we wandered the strip throughout the day and we melted. Late evening it was pretty busy on the strip wandering around. After 2am the strip cleared out quite a bit, still was bloody hot out.

Went from July 19-23. Absolutely melted. Way too hot to enjoy walking around.

Ended up paying for reserved seats at the pool to make sure I had an umbrella

I was there a number of years ago over the july long weekend and despite the fact that the temps were in the 40's, I did not find it as hot as I thought I would. I chalked it up to the fact that there is so little humidity there.

I found Toronto to be hotter.
