Sean Monahan was asked to join Canada at Worlds. But he will have wrist surgery next couple of days and had to decline. #Flames

On a playoff team you need to overpay him at 2 million a season to be your bottom pairing / emergency 4. So unless he is willing to take 4 million instead of 9 million he isn't coming back.

As one of the most controversial signings when it happened it worked out very well for the flames and he earned all of that contract.
Engelland is exactly what a playoff team needs. He deserves to be playing every May.

And what is your point? Are you saying that the Flames are too good for Deryk Engelland?

He is the only Flame D who was solid from game 1 thru to 86. The only Flame D who plays with some jam. The only Flame who can fight a legit heavyweight. One of the few Flames who can take it up a notch when playoffs start.

If he is a X million dollar player on other teams he is X+ here.

That's pretty interesting considering how good he looked in the playoffs. Did Monahan have a known wrist injury prior to the playoff that I'm forgetting about?

Not that I know of, didn't he have wrist problems last year too? Or am I mixing that up with Colborne?

Unsubstantiated angriness moment....

Monahan, wrist surgery
Frolik, wrist surgery
Gaudreau, broken finger (earlier)
Brouwer, broken hand (earlier)

Any more?

Might be time to do something about slashing.

If I was a conspiratorial type, I'd say all these wrist injuries are Chapter 1 in the super secret book of "How to Play the Flames."

Hamilton being left off the North America roster of the World Cup was bad enough but if Team Canada doesn't come calling I have to wonder what the hell's up with his reputation around the league. I'm not exactly sure what more he could do at this young stage of his career to garner some respect.

What about new/modified a glove design?

Didn't the team already make those skate protectors that go over the laces mandatory?

Monahan scores 4 goals in the playoffs with a bum wrist and a slow start to the season.

Big things coming boys. Flames in WCF next season.

They should just crack down on slashing the way they cracked down on hooking and holding 12/13 years ago. If you're stick even touches a player above the waste you go to the box for two minutes.

Now that all the injuries are coming out one has to wonder if this team would have had the health to go more than two rounds. They played hard in the four games but it sounds like some players were being held together by duct tape.

They're not major injuries. Or else they wouldn't be playing. Almost all teams have numerous players that have nagging minor injuries at this point of the season.

Colborne had the wrist injury.

I am guessing a bum wrist probably didn't help with faceoffs.

They are probably injuries that if it was regular season they would sit out a few games an lets not forget they played the bare minimum amount of playoff games. Nagging injuries don't get better with time when players continue to play so if anything the team was likely going to struggle the deeper they went into the playoffs.
