Sad to hear, but 90 is a damn fine life. He did what he lived for a lot of it too.

He had a voice to sell those dramatic moments, that I do miss.

That’s quite sad to hear. He was totally a grandfather and had a great voice and feel for building up the sport. Sad to hear it.

In my youth, I wasn't a huge fan because I irrationally just connected him to the Leafs, but clearly the guy was a master at his craft. There were few play-by-play guys on his level when he was calling games, and they are even rarer now.

His voice is what hockey sounds like. Truly a part of the fabric of the game.

Looking back at some of the best hockey memories from my childhood and the voice that went along with it and for many of them they were narrated by Bob Cole.

Rest in Peace! Ive been fortunate to hear some of the greats, Foster Hewitt, Dick Irvin, Danny Gallivan, etc etc, but IMO Cole was the best.

I hope he enjoyed his one-year retirement. I can't imagine having the passion for something (or energy!) to keep going as long as he did. He's the play-by-play voice of my childhood.
