Hamilton plays San Antonio later this afternoon so the Flames REALLY need to win this one. This would be a HUGE moral builder as well as get them in a playoff spot.

Flames PBP guy says that Huska called out Poirier after last night's game for being invisible. Said it isn't acceptable. He needs to play better.

Hopefully we have a pissed off Poirier playing tonight ready to punish the Griffins.

Puck drop has been moved to 2:10pm as it sounds like the Griffins are doing some pre-game ceremony.

FLAMES GOAL!

1-0 Flames

18 seconds into the game. I have no idea who scored, the Griffins looked like they scored on themselves. Goalie put the goal in on himself.

Sieloff continuing to play a solid physical game. He's finishing checks and the look pretty solid.

I'd say message received by Poirier. He's certainly not invisible in the first few minutes here. Zipping all over the ice and in front of the net.

Flames seem to be doing a good job keeping up with the Griffins. Looking far better than they did against Rockford.

Thiessen and McCollum both having to work early on.

Griffins PBP are whining about Tousignant and Wotherspoon having the audacity to speak with a couple Griffins after the horn.

That kid talking to Wotherspoon would have been killed if Wotherspoon chose to fight him. He was at least twice his size. I was kind of hoping he would just stick his hand out to hold him back while the kid started swinging.

Huska Interview:

Flames came out strong in the 1st period and had good jump to start the last game. First goal took the wind out of the sails. That's the type of hockey they will need to play going forward, it's going to be a fight.

Players forced the puck movement too much after the first goal. When they do have the puck, the guys without the puck need to have more stride and less glide. More work away from the puck from players without it needed.

Want players to play loose, not overthink the game. Players are trying to force too much.

Sieloff's play has stepped up in the last few games. He played physical up front and he generated alot of energy when he moved back to defence. He's playing within himself better and player a stronger and physical game.

Poirier was quiet in his first game back. Expect 3-5 shots per night, need to use speed, need to be engaged. He needs to give more, he's gone up to the NHL so they expect more. They look to him to generate offense. He needs to raise the level and be the best player on the best at both sides of the ice.

Have been in the position where they know what's on the line. Have to play as a team and not worry about what's going on around them.
