Guy Boucher would be an excellent choice if they can't get Boudreau.

Is Boudreau a player's coach? The impression I've had is that he screams at his guys a lot.

If it not Boudreau I can see John Stevens or Travis Green.

Especially after getting that team into the playoffs after the first 1/3rd they had. I think this is just a case of the Ducks re-arranging the deck chairs. Aging core, quick, do something! Anything! Before it's to late.... Blame Bruce!
Always one of the tougher things to see in hockey, how as little as one bad season suddenly means a coach forgets how to do his job. Seeing a team go "The coach isn't the problem" like the Bruins did with Julien this year is more surprising than seemingly finding a cop out.
I'm confident that wasn't the case with Hartley at least though. Treliving seems like he makes very smooth, calculated decisions.

Isn't Sutter without a contract right now? Not sure I'd like the idea, but it's another option worth discussing.
With Treliving being Treliving I doubt this is a case of "Boudreau is available, quick, fire Hartley now!" I really wouldn't be surprised to see the dust settle, Boudreau go to Ottawa and the Flames quietly nab someone like Green.

Not as crazy as it seems. Carlyle was hired in Anaheim by Burke. Carlyle took a team that did not make the playoffs in 2003-04, and took them to the conference finals in 2005-06, and won the Cup the following year. Carlyle was brought in to Toronto by Burke again. Carlyle took over a real bad Leafs team and got them to the playoffs the next year with a 26-17-5 record. As soon as he was fired Toronto proceeded to fall straight to the bottom of the standings.

All of those choices suck. I'll vote Bob Hartley.

I don't get the Boudreau hard on everyone has. His record is great yes but he's also had two stacked teams with lots of fire power.
I don't know how people say he's a players coach when those two teams he's coached, the star players declined each year and he really doesn't let the captains be the captains.
I may be the minority but I absolutely do not want Boudreau.

OP should update the list as Travis Green is more legit than all the guys listed a outside of BB and John Stevens is also getting attention and deserves another chance. I expect the hire to be one of that three.

Of that list? I guess Boudreau. I don't have a great opinion of him from the HBO series but you can't argue his success rate. I do wonder what happened in Anaheim at the beginning of the season. They were horrible. Also, the Anaheim GM said that he has some hard questions for his players on their compete level after the playoff exit. That has to be connected to Boudreau in at least a small way, right? Did they give up on the coach?

Does it really make sense to fire Hartley and then hire Hartley 2.0?
Treliving is a smart manager. He's not going to do that.

I'm going to go off the board and say Nate Leaman from Providence College. Before the Bruins gave Julien a vote of confidence, there were rumours they might hire Leaman.
He turned Union College from a consistently losing team into a team that went the Frozen Four twice in the three years after he left (with a roster of players that he mostly recruited) and won a National Championship in 2014. He left Union to go to a consistently losing Providence Program and turned them into the 2015 National Champions.
He recruited Jooris at Union and Jankowski and Gillies at Providence.
If Treliving decides to go off the board, Leaman is my pick.

When Boudreau was fired in Washington, that team went through a long period of lacking an identity until they picked up Trotz (who is a great coach in his own right). The team got worse for a number of years after they got rid of Boudreau.
When Boudreau was hired in Anaheim, he took a team that missed the playoffs 2 out of 3 years prior and made them into a perennial playoff team.
Maybe those teams were considered good because Boudreau made them look good.
