Radulov - Yay or Nay?
Not sure if this is worthy of a poll, but if it were, I would make the choices:
1. Nope. Nope. Nope.
2. Only if it were for the league minimum.
2. Yes, on 1-year "show me" deal.
3. Yes, on a long-term deal.
I noticed some discussion about him in the trade rumours thread, but thought it might be an interesting discussion on it's own.
Personally, I would offer him a 1-year "show-me" deal. I didn't like the way we screwed over Nashville, but there is no denying he can play. Being a RW, he would likely have a huge opportunity to showcase himself on the Flames.
I say, do a one-year contract even if you have to overpay for the short-term. Best case scenario is that he is productive and the team has success with him. The worst case would be that he doesn't fit, but at least there would be nothing holding us down in the future. And then there is the possibility that he does well and the Flames have trade bait at the deadline.

1. Nope Nope Nope
Culture of a team is important. Having guys that will sacrifice personally for the sake of the team is what pushes a team from good to great. There's enough parity in the league that having one more skilled player isn't outweighed by the lack of sacrifice of said player. Radulov has a horrible history of being self-centered. I don't see the benefit of adding someone like that to the team, regardless of how talented he is.
It's not a coincidence that the Caps are finally becoming a contender the minute that Ovechkin decided to start playing a complete team game and being less-selfish on the ice.

No. He'll bolt back to the K the minute he's not playing with Johnny and Mony.
Not a team guy at all.

A one year deal, sure. Nothing to lose, he could always be waived or sent to the minors.

If he'd sign here I'd take him in an instant.
He's a talented winger we need more of those.
The competition in this league is too strong to operate on a moral high horse all the time like this.

A thousand times Nay.
He's a good player, but he has never shown anything to me that would indicate he cares about anything more than himself. Which is kind of a key attribute to being part of a team in a team sport. He's just not a team-oriented player.

I can't see him coming back on a value contract, so I do not expect we could fit him into our budget. Not to mention the issues surrounding the fact that we'd be hiring a mercenary with zero loyalty to anyone but himself.

A 30 year old winger who's played less than 20 games in the NHL in the last 8 years. Not necessarily high horse here. The fact that a perpetually offence starved Predators team let him walk is telling.

He's still playing high level hockey and massively talented. His NHLe is equivalent to Panarin, which means he likely comes over and puts up 70 points or more. Especially on a line with Johnny.
Also, he may be a left shot, but he plays RW. We kinda need that.
One more thing, the Preds didn't "let him walk", he chose to go to the KHL.
Doubt he even considers coming to CGY anyways.

I don't know, I mean he seems pretty committed.
