[News] Flames to pick 6th in 2016 draft

One good thing is that with how close the 4-8 players seem to be rated, there's a good chance that the Flames will get the same kid at 6 that they would have picked at 5.

Of all the other Western Canadian teams that I hate who could have won a lottery spot, the Jets are the least of 3 evils.

Honestly this was one of the best scenarios if the flames didn't win the lottery, edm and van dropping a couple spots is great.

Too bad we didn't end up in 6th place. We could have pick the 2nd pick and Patrick Laine. Kind of disappointed that we lost a spot but we still have a chance to pick either Matthew Tkachuk or Dubois or even Alex Nylander as the Oilers will definitely pick a defenseman. Just glad that Vancouver and Oilers especially did not get the 1st pick overall and also went down spots.

I actually think the Canucks are. The Jets have competent management, the Canucks would have traded 2nd for 6th + Kulak or something dumb like that.

If none of the picks before us are traded, I hope Edmonton takes a D and leaves one of Dubois or Tkachuk to us.

I'm glad it isn't a division rival in the top 3 and 2/3 teams are in the east.

Edmonton sucks so I don't care who they pick. Vancouver also sucks so I don't care who they pick.

I guess there is some risk of either team trading down and it hurting us but not a big deal. We get a good pick either way.

People are saying the Oilers are likely to pick a defenseman with their pick, making one of Dubois or Tkachuk available for the Flames.

However, knowing the Canuck's management, I wouldn't be surprised if they also picked off the board.

There's a chance Calgary can actually make the choice between Dubois and Tkachuk.

We have a lot of good players. Getting a top 3 pick would have been great, but I'm not sure the difference between success and mediocrity is one of those top 3 ranked guys.

I would give this a 4 out of 10....

Flames didn't win a lottery pick but also didn't drop to 7 or 8.

Oilers and nucks outside top 3 is awesome. Woulda loved seeing the leafs not win but now I hope Laine ends up being better just to spite the leafs.

As far as the pick , if dubois/Tkachuk are gone I wouldn't mind seeing a trade down znd grabbing an additional asset.
