1 - Toronto - Matthews (can live with it)
2 - Winnipeg - Laine (ugh)
3 - Columbus - Puljujarvi or Dubois (can live with it)
4 - Edmonton - Chychrun (can live with it)
5 - Vancouver - Juolevi (can live with it)
6 - Dubois or Puljujarvi (not bad at all!)

For me, you keep the pick right up until the moment we are on the clock. If neither Tkachuk or Dubois are available, I'd have no issue trading down. Don't underestimate the Oilers and Canucks doing something stupid by taking a d-man, giving us the choice of one of those forwards.

Anybody in the top 5 trading down I wonder? Obviously not Toronto.
I suspect both EDM and VAN take defensemen.

However, with Vancouver and Edmonton placing more value in Defence, and with both of those teams dropping down as well, I can't say this was a terrible outcome at all. In fact, there may not be a difference at all for the Flames, but it sure as heck is a difference for both Vancouver and Edmonton.
For falling down a spot, the rest of the draft lottery is probably the best outcome possible.
