That's what scares me, we all loved Treliving in the early days of his tenure. ANd some still do love him and think he was a good gm, god knows why.
But definitely off to a great start!

I’ll be worried if he starts dipping into UFAs early

Conroy is such a nice guy that other GM's can't help but trust him and his honesty and earnestness. Bottle that up for 35 minutes and fall in love with is smile.

He does seem to have the right idea for sure though.
- Need more high end talent to win...can't clutch and grab your way to wins anymore
- Nobody is untouchable, open to doing anything that will make the team better
- Likes that Huska plays the young guys and is open to feedback (Conroy is the one that went down to question why Sharangovich was playing 4th line C)

Interesting kind of throwaway comment from Conny: One thing I always wanted to do...all the years I've been here...can we call guys up and see what they are? (paraphrased 10:45 or so)
This gives me HUGE hope for him...he's got the attitude and the tools...now can he pull off the deals and pick the right guys to get us to the Promised Land?
Besides...how the hell can one NOT love this guy?

More like he talks their ears off until he gets what he wants.
"Anything you want, Connie, just give me 20 minutes of peace and quiet!"

The pursuit of talent is what the organization needs.
The game is getting less scrappy and physical by the day. Unless your big bodies can play, they aren't much use any more. You can't even "intimidate" with all the easy penalties for light contact or embellishing.
It's about speed and skill now.

I love the frank and openness of Conroy when talks about the trade and all this associated with the Flames.

What I like about the approach of “let’s see what we got”, Zary didn’t project in the AHL like the way he is in the NHL. Not often, but some players are better in the NHL than AHL for what ever reason. Think the game higher but don’t have the talent around them in the AHL maybe. Kuzmenko is another, his NHLe was half of what he put up in his first year. See what you got. The odd one will surprise and you have a gem.

My British wife, who has very little interest in hockey, sure did. I was sitting watching a postgame interview when my wife looked up and asked, “who’s that?”
It was Conny.
She watched the rest of the interview.
