Louise opening day is fun. About calf deep, and though there are rocks and things to hit under there, I haven't yet after 5 laps. Legs are shot though.
EDIT: Found the rocks. Ow. That was dumb.

Pays for itself in a tune or two.

Has anyone been skiing at Sunshine Village or Louise during the Christmas break - 24th, 25th and 26th? How busy does it get? I was hoping to get out those days and have decent run in all three days.

25th won't be as busy. But has been getting busier through the years.
24th and 26th will be a zoo.

Yeah, 25th is awesome. 24 or 26 show up by 8am if you want parking. Or go further west. I've gotten to the point I don't go for the 2 weeks surrounding Christmas with the exception of Christmas day and New Years day.

Sounds like the best day would be Christmas Day. I guess i'll have to see how the crowd is on Boxing day. Perhaps if I am there early, it wont be too bad.
Thanks again.

I think thats the plan. I like Louise better than Sunshine, so I'll hit it up on Dec 25. Likely do Sunshine the other two days. I have a feeling that I'll go early on the 24th to Sunshine. Go to Louise on the 25th and see how my body feels on the 26th.
Thanks for the info.

The 24th and 26th are probably the busiest days in the entire season. When I worked at Louise they certainly were. Awful days to go.

Those are the places to avoid on Jan 14, not go. Given the resulting crowds you'd have to pay me to ski there. Frankly they should just rename Grouse to "Mount Purgatory" for the day.

Went to Fernie on Wednesday. Busy as hell in some parts, but absolutely magnificent conditions. Fresh powder literally everywhere and just a gorgeous landscape with everything covered in white.

I'm headed to sunshine for a day next week. It's been a while since I've gone out and I am out of touch regarding discounted lift tickets. What are my options for a cheaper lift ticket? Does an AMA membership work?
