icon57 2015-16 Flames Prospects Stats

Back by popular demand, here is the 2015-16 Flames Prospect Stats Tracker:

Updated to 04/12/16

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

I have charts for the Stockton Heat, Adirondack Thunder, NCAA, CHL and Europe. Each league is found on a different tab along the bottom of the sheet.

Stockton's chart will have all players who are playing for the Heat. I've pre-filled in some names, however they are just a best guess and will probably change once the season starts and we get a better idea of who starts the season there. Any Flames prospects that are sent to Adirondack during the season will be added to that chart.

Right now, the only active player is Rafikov (KHL). The CHL and SEL will be starting up in 2 weeks. AHL/ECHL/NCAA starts up in mid-October.

As always, comments about how to improve this are welcome.

Nice job man... one little thing, I noticed you have Hunter Smith in both Stockton & CHL.

Oops. I put him in the CHL first, then realized he went pro. I have him deleted now.

Thanks!

Isn't Keegan Kanzig also going pro?

Not at this time. He attended Hitmen training camp and is on the Hitmen pre-season roster. It looks like he will remain in the WHL for his 5th and final season. Which is also an interesting situation because including Kanzig, the Hitmen will have 4 overagers.

It does make some sense to have Kanzig remain in the WHL, simply too many bodies at the AHL level for the time being, especially if the Flames add a couple guys that are currently on PTO's like Wilson, Roy and Fram.

Hitmen also have 4 1995s on their pre-season roster: Brendan Burke, Kanzig, Colby Harmsworth and Elliott Pedersen. Granted, Burke is in Arizona's camp and Kanzig is expected to be in Flames camp as well. They're going to be keeping three of them, most likely.

If the goal is to develop Kanzig before he's playing in the A, I'd have preferred the Thunder. Higher level of play + custom-tailored ice-time instead of guys like Sanheim potentially eating up good development opportunities. Especially since the guy's already signed to his ELC and can be assigned downward, but not upward.

It's pretty common for graduating juniors to attend their junior teams training camp.

I thought this too, it gets them ready for rookie camp a little sooner. Plus with the Hitmen being owned by the Flames and playing in Calgary it makes even more sense. I am not saying he won't play for the Hitmen, but he is going to get every opportunity in the Flames camp and then the Heat's camp before a decision is made.

After a string of scratches Rafikov finally played again. 12 whole shifts.

Updated to 09/13/15 - Which basically means I updated Rafikov.

I've also now added a specific tab for the Young Stars Tournament to track how the players are doing at that tournament and for reference later (as it came up a few times last year). I have updated for the games against Winnipeg and Edmonton.

Not that it matters much, but one of the goals the Oilers scored was an empty net goal. It shouldn't reflect on McDonald's stats.

Well, nice job Flames site putting the proper numbers up. I was using their boxscore.

And yes, the drop in numbers isn't great. He goes from a 6 to a 4. Still not a great showing on paper. Although I don't feel he did much better on the ice. Of the current Flames goalies, I like him least. He has a long way to go. Even further then Ortio when we first got him.

You saw a completely different game from me.

I saw a guy who I don't think allowed a 5 on 5 goal in the whole game. The goals he allowed were a cross-ice 4 on 4 goal, two power play goals in a game that felt like there were over 20 minutes of PK time (and Culkin was injured along with Andersson being in the box for fighting), and a penalty shot by an elite prospect.

Stats Updated to 09/27/15

The SHL is active, however Ollas-Mattson still hasn't played a game. Not sure if he's injured or just been healthy scratched a bunch. He doesn't appear to be active on any Junior teams that I can find, so not sure what's going on.

The CHL season has started and Mangiapane is off to a hot start with 5 pts in 2 games.
