Saw the game today.

Wow. That kid is good. Tremendous skater, shifty and skilled, but it’s the hockey IQ that is off the chart.

Really reads the game incredibly well. Great vision - on several plays you could tell he knew exactly where his teammates were, and as soon as the puck was on his stick, it was off.

Quick little decisions on attacks, where a puck may be a 50/50 and he jumps and gets a stick on it.

Really impressive. I don’t even know if he had a particularly good game, for him. But man, if that was business as usual, clearly a very special player

Super cool to see Phoenix playing Shattuck in the final today. That Coyotes system has become one of the more impressive ones on the continent.

The Phoenix team has four 2005 players on its roster, one of whom is their points leader. I thought the requirement would have been that they had not yet turned 18 at the beginning of the season, but his birthday is in April... just a few months younger than my son who is in second year university.

I hate to point this out, but the oilers first season without either Mcdavid or Draisaitl will be 26/27. And they are going to be ####ing awful. Just sayin.

Shattuck has 7 or 8 '05's as well. The US teams have a considerable advantage with the older year of eligibility.

It'll be hilarious when they finish a record setting dead last and they only get the #3 pick because of The Oiler Rule.

He got MVP and best DMAN at the Macs midget as the second youngest player as a dman. Makar had 23 points in 34 games at a similar age…in Bantam.

You can make comparisons but they’re never fair. Makar developed really late by hockey standards. He was not an impact player at any level until he was 18 and has dominated at every level since he was 20.

If this is the same kid the talk show host on Sirius NHL (Boomer?) was talking about him today, said he watched him play three times over the break and saw “nothing”.

That would align well with the hockey insight on that show.

Even Ty Rattie and Tyler Benson had crazy good production in AAA, if I'm not mistaken. Neither of them ended going in the first round. Joe Velano is another guy.

But this Dupont does seem to be something else.
