Default The price of playoff tickets is too damn high

It's absolutely ridiculous in a city going through a rough economic time, that the Flames would raise the prices for the playoffs as much as they did.

I don't care how this makes me look but it needs to be said. MR Bettman and (Flames) company keep talking about how a new building will bring Calgarians a better quality of life but explain to me how the heck I'm supposed to afford going to a playoff game when the prices are so high? How is the saddledome in any way improving my quality of life? It's actually making it worse knowing I can't afford to go to a playoff game. A middle class fan who can't afford to attend your hockey game in a building that's not even new.

God help us when they actually build a building and raise the prices even more.

Calgary is in the worst economic times since the 80's and the Flames decided $110 was reasonable for nosebleeds? For seats that you can't even see the jumbotron? I know it's not 2004 still but those seats used to be $25 for playoffs. A 450% increase? Ridiculous.

If people don't buy the tickets the prices will drop. If people buy them evidently they priced the tickets at a price point their fan base will tolerate, even with the economic situation in town.

It's not like the game isn't on TV. I still get to see the game and save myself the cash....win win!

If your entertainment budget can't afford $110 tickets, I'm pretty sure you have more to be concerned about than getting tickets. I don't find that price unreasonable. As stated above the price will be set as long as they continue to sell, so it may in fact be you who are out of touch of the market.

$110 x 2 x parking x food and drinks adds up real quick. And it's for crappy nosebleeds, no thanks.

Price is still ridiculous regardless if they sell out every game.

My season ticket price was not too bad $109 for round one section 219. I honestly expected worse

No matter what price they charge, there are only 19,289 seats at the dome, far fewer than the number of people who want to attend the game. Supply & demand.

Just because you don't think it is worth is doesn't mean it isn't too other people.

Welcome to supply and demand. Everyone loves Captialism until there is a limited supply !

2004 was 13 years ago. I know the memories of it are fresh but.. 13 years. Tickets prices just aren't comparable. The Flames had a player payroll of 36 million that season now it's 73 million.

2004 is as comparable now as 1991 was to 2004.

Totally agreed but the next time the Flames and Mr. Bettman mention quality of life and how the Flames make it better then they can go pound sand.

Just because people are buying the tickets doesn't mean they should keep raising the prices if they actually care about Calgarians and if making money is all they care about then they need to be treated like a business only and get no public money.

I'll happily make that trade off.

I think tickets are expensive. I choose not to go. Not that I can't afford it I just don't see value. 19000+ beg to differ on a nightly basis and that's fine by me.

I don't expect a private business to leave money on the table.

My guess is that they are NOT taking all this extra playoff ticket revenue and putting it into the "NEW BUILDING" kitty either...

I'm honestly surprised people are willing to pay what NHL teams in Canada are asking, particularly since HD TV came along.

It's hard to beat going to a great game where the hockey is meaningful and your team comes out with a win, but paying a couple hundred bucks - much more if you are paying for a family - to watch fat and sassy millionaires go for a leisurely skate and lose in glorious fashion (which happens a fair bit of the regular season at least) seems pretty crazy to me. Especially when you can put that a few games' worth of money into a nice TV, fridge full of beer, delivery pizza, and you get full authority to screen the other patrons.

But that's just me.

You could always stay up all night working an odd job or driving for uber and then use that money to buy the $100 tickets. At the end of the day, you've stayed up all night and you have tickets...
