Flames @ Panthers, 5:30 PM MST. Sportsnet West, Fan 960
Back to back games, back to back wins? The Flames look to remain hot tonight in Sunrise as the Southern Tour rolls on!
As the tour continues, so do the reunions. Our Hero drops in to The Palm Isle, an establishment ran by an old pal. He preps for the game by indulging in that F-L-A classic, "panther tossing":
(...and as this follows a win, today's pic is dedicated to Since1984)
Spoiler!
Go Flames

The two hottest teams meet. Panthers are 8-2-0 in their last 10. Flames are 7-2-1.
Just to put that in perspective. The best team in the league, the Washington Capitals, have a 7-2-1 record in their last 10. The Chicago Blackhawks are 8-2-0 in their last 10. Only one team in the NHL has a better point percentage, and that's the New York Rangers at 8-1-1.
The Barkov line is playing unbelievable hockey of late. Seriously dominant. If the Flames find a way to control their attack, they'll have a great shot of winning. Fail to control the Barkov line and it's going to be a long night.
I hope to see Tkachuk in this one. He seemed fine after the hit, but it is back to back games with no time to recover.
If anyone is curious about anything Panthers related, just ask!
I'll be at the game tonight in my retro Monahan Jersey if anyone wants to say hi. I doubt there will be many in South Florida with that particular jersey, so I should be easy to spot.

I do have a question. I'm in a sim hockey league and just yesterday trades Bjugstad for a 2017 1st, 2017 2nd, and Riley Shehan. I was hesitant to pull the trigger as I think Bjugstad would be able to rack up 40 point seasons on a different team. Do you think It was a good trade.? Or will Bjugstad end up somewhere as a top 6 centre soon ?

If NYR are 8-2-1, Chicago/Florida are 8-2-0 and the Flames are 7-2-1, then wouldn't NYR and one of CHI/FLA be the two hottest teams?

Yes, clearly missing Huberdeau was the biggest problem with a lack of production this year. However, Barkov came back at the exact same time from an injury as well. Barkov has been really good all year, but Jagr is definitely a little slower, so not having a legitimate top line winger hurt his production earlier this year. Yet he did elevate Marchessault early on to have a ridiculously hot start to the year.
As for the Bjugstad question, I'm not sure what's happened to him this year. He seems like he's well suited for the 3rd line moving forward, but he still has flashes of offense that make you go "wow". However, they seem to be fewer and farther between these days. He could do better if he wasn't behind Barkov and Trocheck for ice time, but I don't see the Panthers moving him any time soon.
