Despite its issues our second pair and the Kulak version of the third pair are pretty respectable in corsi so they're not inflating the first pair's relative stats, and the two Engelland pairs have had high enough PDO that their GF% is respectable (though in the Jokipakka case, the PDO is far greater than the expected PDO).
And Brodie, while having a poor season in terms of low expected goals and low expected PDO, is yet unlucky on top of that.
The first pair is just, really good. The objective of relative stats isn't only to contrast them with the other pairings, but to take away the effect of average level of forwards and coaching systems. It's not perfect to use relative stats but they can be telling.
