I don't think these guys are as good as Wideman though.

Rag on him as much as you want, he plays 2nd pairing against tougher competition, and was only -5, and can play decently physically, and has playoff experience. Sure he is better suited for 5th or 6th D, but he is leaps and bounds better to have in playoff game then the guys mentioned above.

(Small leaps and bounds. Like hops)

If the return is a 6th or 7th, keep Wideman as depth and even playing the odd game as a 6th D and see if he looks more competent against last pairing matchups

I think he was falling fast from that 2nd pairing duty.
I don't believe he can play physically. He seems to be falling down more than knocking anyone down.
Seems to have lost a step making quick decisions and ends up in trouble because he can't rely on the physical part to get himself out of trouble.
Can't really trust him in his own end and could easily be burned by speed in the offensive zone.

and Duhatschek stomps on the dreams of many Flames fans... says on 960 he doesn't think there is a market for Wideman at all. Thinks Wideman will be a spare part til the end of thseason.

They don't all need to be though.

The Flames only need one person (Stone) to play top 4 minutes (and Engelland can be the backup on that). Everyone else just needs to be a fill in as #6 if required. Which they can be.

A rare time where I'd agree with Duha over Freid.

I can only see Wideman as valuable to a team like Washington who would take him in as a 7th defender and use him only in emergency/injury situations.

If there is ANY way for Treliving to cut ties with Wideman I suspect he will and it will be something like Wideman + 50% of his salary + 6th round pick for Washingtons 5th round pick.

If Wideman does get traded, I suspect it will happen with seconds to go before the deadline. Some GM will be going, ‘Really? We couldn't get X or Y or Z? Or A or Q or M or R? Oh, hell, I guess we'll settle for Compound W.’

All i think about is how we kept hearing about how guys like Drew Shore were highly sought after on the trade market.

Remember that rumour where Rene Bourque apparently was 'in high demand.'

A sprinkling of unusual callers (ie: the first-time caller German-sounding lady asking if Matthew Tkachuk is related to Keith) and profanity-spewing drunks. Call-in shows are the best!

Nope. That Bourque/Cammalleri trade was back in 2012.
