As bad as things seemed, the Jays have put up a 9-5 record in their last 14 games which were at Seattle x 3, vs. Yankees x 4, vs. Baltimore x 4, and at Boston x 3. Those teams combined to have a .543 winning percentage. So although the Jays maybe aren't hot. They have been consistently winning against good competition.
Also in those 5 losses, only 1 of those was a game where they didn't have a good chance to win.
We'll see if any of this means anything, but in recent years teams that came out of the Wild Card have had some momentum into the playoffs. Even Houston last year was one inning away from killing off the Royals. They had that series early in game 4 until one bad inning changed everything.

Will be interesting to see how they stagger this rotation.
We know the following:
Whomever starts game 1 cannot start game 4, but can start game 5.
Whomever starts game 2 can start game 5 as well
3 and 4 will only make one start each.
This is all assuming regular rest (or a day extra if #1 starter also starts #5)
I would go Happ, Sanchez, Estrada, Stroman, Sanchez.
Edit: maybe I flip Estrada for Stroman. Guarantees you don't leave Stroman without a start, I think he's earned it. Also would put him on exact regular rest between yesterday's start and game 3 on Sunday.

Cole Hamels for Game 1
Darvish for Game 2
Bizarre news: Russell Martin received stitches on his left pinky finger because he high-fived too hard after last night's victory.

Rangers pitchers are weird,. Either they dominate or give up 7 runs in 4 innings.

They've got some big game guys who could easily shut the Jays down if they are on that day.
Guess we're gonna find out now.

Really surprised they went with Estrada Game 1. Wonder if it has anyhting to do with Martin hurting his thumb and they wanted to give him an extra day

I think its basically his turn in the rotation. Plus he is terrible with extended rest periods.

Yeah, it's Estrada's turn and Gibby has already shown loyalty to the guys who got them here. He's not going to skip any of the top 4 rotation guys. They are this teams bread and butter this year.

Skeptical about that story. I can give a ton of high 5's and you know that won't happen. Likely he was cut by a beer can or champagne bottle, but to dumb down any controversy the PR machine says high 5's. High 5's my butt.

The thought of this series makes me sick.
I don't have a ton of faith in the Rangers bullpen.
I wish you all a good series, and ask that you be mindful that for whatever reason people REALLY put on Jays can do no wrong glasses.
Anyway I won't be saying much, likely won't be back in this thread, but wanted to wish you all the best and have fun with the ALDS.
Cheers,
Canada's Only Rangers Fan.

I actually forgot how much I hated the Rangers, but wow, I really really don't like anyone on their team.
They are the definition of classless crybaby sore-losers. Looking forward to taking them out again as they are classic playoff choke artists.

So who was to blame for the fights earlier in the season? That Bautista slide was pretty bad and I don't blame Odor for reacting the way he did.
Am I misremembering the incident? Was there anything before that which caused friction?
