Pull Liriano from the game now. He just doesn't have it today.

Don't write off Anthony Gose's pitching career just yet
Quote:
But since then, Gose hasn't allowed a run, a hit or -- most importantly -- a walk in five innings of work. He's struck out eight during that perfect span, including three strikes Thursday night in Daytona Beach.
|
Quote:
But don't count him out. A left-hander who throws near 100 mph and has good command? He'll find a job somewhere.

Gose had the best arm I've personally ever seen when he was with the Jays in the outfield. Obviously two very different motions but who knew the guy could throw 100? Crazy.

Imagine if Gose turns into an Aroldis Chapman type, smoke throwing, high leverage, lefty reliever while poor old Devon Travis remains a band aid until he eventually washes out..
Would be quite the 180° on that trade now wouldn't it?

Well this recent swoon should pretty much finish this season. As much as mediocrity is plaguing the AL it's clear that this version of the Jays isn't going to get over .500. Outside of Smoak and Stroman it's been a lot of injuries and under performers.

Blue Jays @BlueJays
We've acquired Minor League OF Eduard Pinto from the Texas Rangers for RHP Jason Grilli and cash considerations.

Apparently it's good that I'm working today and not at home watching the game. Jays getting pummelled.

The season was over when we failed to go even .500 in by far the easiest stretch of the season, but if nothing else, this sweep should put an end to Sportsnet's "there's still a chance!" talk in every single pre-game show.

For me it was over when they blew that 4-1 lead in the ninth. Classic turning point.

This team is the most anti-clutch hitting team in the major leagues, and it's really not mostly due to 'bad luck' or even injuries. It's just flat out under performing.
Not good.

Well, on the bright side of things, the Jays seem to have a ton of talent working their way up the minor leagues. Should make it feasible to transition easier over the next couple seasons.
For me I'd be in favour of selling any non essential piece, even guys like Russell Martin if the price was right.
