Default Patrick "No News" Sieloff

I was pretty excited to see this guy play, but where is he ?

I can assume that he's injured since he's only played 2 games for the Heat...

There wasn't any other information that I could find relating to the injury etc.

Anyone have any further information or updates?

3. SIELOFF HURT — Recurring hip trouble is sidelining Abbotsford D Patrick Sieloff, a first-year pro. “It’s an aggravation of the same injury he had last season,” said Feaster. “Unfortunately, as part of the treatment of that, he had an injection, then got an infection from the injection. He had to deal first with the infection. So he’s in Calgary working with our guys.” Feaster says the issue is preventable with a proper maintenance regimen.

it actually is someone from the staff not following procedures (using needles off of E. Hastings?) which caused the infection...so staff infection is apropos.

Even with proper procedures, anything invasive carries risk

When he comes back I think they should send him back to Windsor. Not point burning a year off his contract when he's already missed a bunch of time.

Only way he burns a year is if he plays 10 NHL games.

AHL games count as well IIRC.

Here's the answer from Sureloss last time this question came up.
Quote:

The CBA specifies NHL games played not professional games played.

A player's contract can slide in the AHL given he hasn't played more than 9 NHL games in a season.

Sieloff's ELC will slide as long as he doesn't play more than 9 NHL games

Here is the exact wording from the CBA:
Quote:
In the event that an 18 year old or 19 year old Player signs an SPC with a Club but does not play at least ten (10) NHL Games in the first season
under that SPC, the term of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry
Level System shall be extended for a period of one (1) year, except that
this automatic extension will not apply to a Player who is 19 according to
Section 9.2 by virtue of turning 20 between September 16 and December
31 in the year in which he first signs an SPC. Unless a Player and Club
expressly agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an
additional year in accordance with this subsection, all terms of the SPC,
with the exception of Signing Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary,
games played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses, shall be extended; provided,
however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be extended in all
circumstances.

So when will Pat be back? Is he in any danger of missing the WJC?

Thanks for clarifying that Goodlad (and Sureloss, as I missed his post). I assumed Sieloff's ELC already kicked in. This is great news for the ignorant like myself

So far there has been no timeline presented for his return (that I am aware of)

And since it is only about 6 weeks away and he basically hasn't played this year, I would say it is in serious doubt.

I'm more worried about him returning this season than if he makes it back for the WJHC.

So. Is he ever going to play hockey again? After hearing about the staph infection reaching his heart, and the complete lack of news...

I found this article that the Calgary Sun did on him from January 16th.

It sounds like he is starting to work out and get back into shape again.

I (unfortunately) was at Cowboys on Saturday and saw Sieloff cruising around with Monahan all night, and most of the team was there as well. Patrick looked healthy and happy, gave him a quick hello.

Anyway, hopefully he'll be able to play sometime this year. Exciting prospect.

He'd better be close to playing if he's drinking in downtown Calgary, been waiting all year for him to suit up.
