J6 will happen again, probably in a worse form. That is the scariest part.
IMO democracy is already dead, as is this empire. Historically people almost never realize when their empire has died, but historians looking back peg it. IMO J6 2021 was that day, though in a few hundred years people may argue that Sep 11 2001 and the patriot act was the start of the fall.
Before that happens, we will see some of the red states try to throw the election to Trump based on laws enacted since 2020. It could get ugly really quickly.

I doubt J6 is repeated. They’re dull but seeing the hundreds who were jailed will surely deter them, otherwise they’re even stupider than they’ve shien (which is possible). I think they’ll find another form of terrorism.

I dont doubt their stupidity. They are breathtakingly dumb.
Dean is right that these primaries are where the chance at democracy is still alive in America. The actual election is a popularity contest. I doubt that many Americans under 50 join a party to select a candidate, and the overwhelming majority are seniors.
But, I'm Canadian, and don't know all of the ins and outs of the system, and am sure that there are many mechanisms in place to exclude as many voters as possible.

A jury hearing evidence in Donald Trump’s defamation trial began deliberations Friday after closing arguments during which Trump stormed out of the courtroom.
Trump’s exit came moments after a lawyer for plaintiff E. Jean Carroll told the jury that Trump had disregarded the results of an earlier trial against Carroll.
“Did he respect the jury verdict? No. not at all. Not even for 24 hours,” the lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, said, referring to a trial last year in which a jury found Trump liable for sexually abusing Carroll in the 1990s and defaming her in 2022. The current trial concerns comments that Trump made about Carroll in 2019, while he was president, after she publicly accused him of raping her in a department store dressing room.
After Trump stood up from the defense table and walked to the door, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan interrupted Roberta Kaplan, who isn’t related to the judge. “Excuse me. The record will reflect that Donald Trump just rose and walked out of the courtroom.”

That’s what happens when you’re in a cult. Any common sense or rationality that these people may have had before Trump is pretty much gone at this point. It’s frightening how easily these folks have been brainwashed.
