If your a waiter you want to work in a nice restaurant

If your corporate the sweet conor office is very nice.

Work surroundings are important to most ppl/professionals

If he signs in Edmonton, maybe someone like Ferland will drop the gloves against him, and be a Foo Fighter

I think the environment of the city would be more important than the arena. that would be the work surroundings.

if you're a hockey player you want to have a good fit to maximize your playing potential and also win the cup.

you're not giving that up for a worse team with a nicer dressing room.

the new arena and fancy dressing room would be a nice bonus, but I'm sure it doesn't drive the decision.

I think a hometown kid would probably have a hard time saying no to playing there, with one of the league's best players in a brand new building, where just last year they gave another college walk on a bunch of minutes.

Your probably right, it wont drive a decision but it could be a tie breaker.

He's behind those two guys but it's not set in stone. Oilers can still say "lines aren't set but we'll try you out with McDavid".

I think that in itself is an easy sell cuz as a player, you want to play with good players which would help you gain points and get you that big contract in the future as well.

Eberle won't even be there next year (in all likelihood).

Edmonton must be the favorite here, but I hope Calgary snags him for the simple purpose of rubbing it in Matheson's face for not mentioning the Flames.

There is a big difference for a waiter working in a "nice restaurant" (as tips will be quite a bit more substantial, which is his livelihood), than a corporate guy craving a corner office (which has nothing to do with his pay).

The "corner office" will be quite far down most professional's lists of things they need in determining who to work for.

I think most hockey players will look at money, opportunity and the actual team they will play for. The newness of the rink should be much farther down the list.

FWIW he may have gotten to see the Dome when he attended development camp last year (yeah, I know it was at COP but they might have gotten a look anyway).

Speaking of development camp, he would have at least met Tkachuk, Janko, Parsons, Fox, Gillies, Rittich, Culkin, Kylington, Rasmus and Dube. Hopefully at least some of them hit it off with him and he could see himself being teammates.

I expect your 'teammates' would play a much more important point in your decision making.

I would hope young players would like to be part of a rising team like the Flames.
