I don't understand why you are getting bent out of shape about this. I already agreed that Francis's tweet was tasteless, and I honestly do not care whether any Flames players elect to not attend the WC. I am not in any way defending him.
It matters insofar as it is misleading information: you are the one who brought up Brodie's wife.

Honestly the only way they dont bring him back is if they somehow get someone even better. But they cant sign him until after the expansion draft and after free agency opens up. If they sign before expansion then guaranteed hes who Vegas takes and if they wait until after the expansion draft but before free agency opens up they could get tagged with penalties for circumventing the expansion draft rules.

Thanks to everyone with the updates/tweets.
It's interesting to hear the nagging injuries, how they thought they played and their thoughts on next year.

I'll also add a big thanks for reposting all the tweets.
I'd liked to have heard from Bouma

Brouwers interview was quite interesting. Seems like he really has his head in the sand. Maybe it's just a front for the media but wow. I hope it's the last we see of that guy. Absolutely brutal 90% of the year.

#Flames D TJ Brodie was invited to represent Canada at worlds, declined due to family engagements. "It sucks, I'd love to be able to go."

Brodie has more important things to do then go to what is pretty much a second rate tournament that nobody gives a crap about and really does nothing for the veterans that go except give them a paid vacation.
And Francis is an a$$, I don't care if its 18 months or 18 years since Brodies wife was diagnosed, this isn't the army and this tournament is basically a beer league skate around.

1) after watching that interview, I wonder if this is the last time we see Bouma in the flames org. Not anything he said, more we need his contract space to do the necessary upgrades. Being sat for game 4 stung
2) It doesn't surprise me that a lot of nhlers are declining the world's with no Olympic nugget to draw them in.

If you believe the odd rumor that has come out over the last year or so Flames have shopped him.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if he's dealt. Maybe another deal with Van. Weisbrod liked him when he was here.

It's because Bouma's just not a very good hockey player. That's why. That year he had in 2014-15 he played way above his head for most of the year, and he played with Backlund too, which helped him a ton.
Injury or not, don't expect Bouma to ever come close to remotely doing what he accomplished 3 years ago.

Who asked Elliott if he would do anything different on that goal in Game 4? What a really stupid question.

Even stupider answer. He wouldn't have done anything differently? Ummmm....how about stopping the puck?

If goalies could just decide to do that they'd all have 1.000 save percentages.

He let in a horrible stinker in an elimination playoff game after letting in a number of softies the previous games. "I wouldn't have done anything differently" seems like an odd thing to say

He and Jooris kind of came out of nowhere and are cautionary tales of why some teams walk away from players after arbitration (Flames did just that with Colbourne which tells me Treliving has learned from the Bouma mistake). A player that's not of high pedigree having one very good season is typically just that and does not make for a high probability of being able to sustain this numbers over his career. One thing about Byron that was different from these guys was that he has world class speed and was a hard worker which are two assets that make for a useful player even if the puck isn't going in the net but with Byron he actually produced offensively in the AHL so the skills were there.
