Default Flames lose to first round fodder 4-1 or Flames lose to Canucks 4-1

1 game left.

Do we finish 8th last? Or 9th last? Find out Thursday!

Anyone who was complaining that they were trying too hard to win the last few games should have enjoyed this one.

So if we tie New Jersey we still finish 9th?

Loved the fight the Flames had tonight. Didn't back down, didn't stop playing. Although this has been a less successful season, this team has been leagues more likeable and easier to cheer for then they were last season IMO.

Yes, fewer regulation wins.

I actually think this season has been relatively entertaining, and has been excellent in terms of development for this franchise. I'd give the season a B+ grade... if they can deal Markstrom for the expected haul at the draft it will have be an ideal season.

Yeah it would be lovely to have a top five pick... but it takes a special team to be as bad as San Jose, Chicago, Anaheim, and the rest of the dregs.

Markstrom’s (maybe) last game as a Flame.. Seems kinda full circle:

- Flames outshoot opponent and still lose.
- Loosing to the team who let you walk when you should have a chip on your shoulder against them
- Seeing your best friend on the other team who convinced you to originally join the Flames and is going to the playoffs with the team you left.

Excited for the Wolf era to begin as a 1A/B situation next year. I would take Holtz and a 2nd in a heartbeat in the offseason if the offer is still on the table.

So let's see now...

We can't fall below Jersey because of RWs, so the worst we can pick is 9th.
We can't catch Ottawa because their season is done, so best we can pick is 8th.

In order for us to get the 8th pick, again because of RWs, we need Seattle to get at least one point against Minnesota and we have to get exactly zero points against San Jose. Edit: or, I guess more precisely, we need to get 1 less point than Seattle gets... So if they win, then we can lose in OT, but if they lose in regulation, or we win in any form, then we pick 9th.

...or we could just win the lottery.

Rasmus Andersson has really struggled. Has only finished a plus player once in last 15 games.

Vancouver looks like a different team with Demko in net.

Is that right? It’s down to 8 or 9?

Quinn Hughes has about as much personality as Connor in that postgame interview. Did he take PR lessons from McCardboard?

Yup. Most likely 9th, unless Seattle gets more points than Calgary on Thursday. The Kraken's game will be mostly over before the Flames' game starts, so we will likely be safe to cheer for a win.

This is for the best. The alternative would be sneaking into playoffs to get destroyed.

Let's build a proper team that can one day contend, no rushing anything.

Losing Hanifin and Tanev means Andersson faces the opposition’s best players, every single night, all night.
