The obvious solution is to buy a time machine, go back in time and don't speed.

You're right, that is the most obvious solution. Unfortunately, I don't have enough banana peels on hand to recharge my flux capacitor.

Has no impact on the cost of your insurance. Not much of anything you can do aside from finding a new insurer or waiting out the 3 years.

You may want to have your insurance reduced to a base liability policy. It would depend on if you have an old car or not.

I would shop my policy with other companies to see if you can get a better rate.

Count towards insurance if they are within 3 years only. Accidents and or suspensions 6 years. I am in same situation as you but one major ticket two years ago but only 40 extra a month. Gotta wait another year, oh well gotta own up to mistakes we made... Unfortunately for a long time.

Thanks for the update, Reverend. I'm sure the OP is devastated that he doesn't have your sympathy.

I don't see how any of these posts are a shock? This happens in every ticket/speeding thread. Should have (and probably was) expected by the OP.
Further to the actual post, you were actually found guilty when you didn't plead not guilty by the date on the face of the ticket (usually 4-6 weeks after it's issued). You would have been convicted in absence and then the fee (plus a penalty surcharge for a late fee) is added to your registration/drivers licence when you goto renew it.

Find out what is happening in your life to make you speed all of a sudden. I recall I seemed to have a heavy foot shortly after my Dad passed away. After decades with no tickets, I suddenly got 3 speeding tickets in a short period of time.
I'd recommend just learning to accept the extra cost for the time being, and use it as a lesson to slow down.

Speeding ticket fines are an Alberta tax to cover the lack of a PST.

Yes. I am in shock that someone dropped a useless, holier than thou post in any thread, let alone a speeding thread. Next time, I will expect it.

Let me guess, speeding ticket fines for the other provinces cover the lack of oil revenue.

Before the computer age, if you didn't pay and managed to avoid being pulled over for 3 years the ticket would be thrown out.

Pretty sure going 88 MPH would not actually help your situation.

I don't know... BC is even worse, and they'll even impound and sell your vehicle.
I am now radar-detector and laser jammer free, having sold my car that had those goodies wired into it. But here's my 2 cents on the issue:
-For highway driving, you can't get better than a Valentine One radar detector. The arrows showing what direction the signal is coming from trumps anything Bell/Escort has to offer.
-For in town, you need a jammer. I would agree that if you're paying attention to your laser detector you can sometimes slow down when hit before they get a lock, I wouldn't trust it.
-My jammer was a Laser Interceptor which at the time was considered the best to get. I understand now that title belongs to the Antilaser AL Priority
Myself, I don't plan to buy either a detector or jammer anytime soon. My highway driving is mostly highway 2, and while I am always over 110km/h, never by a lot and the sherrifs just seem to ignore you if you're just going along like everyone else. In the city, my driving is generally through rush hour and there's little ability to even get to the speed limit.

What would it cost to wire all that into a vehicle? I have a radar detector, but the suction cups are pretty useless.

Only if you drive like an idiot. There's no excuse for driving 50 km/h over the speed limit.

Not true in some parts. the OPP for instance paid a data entry company to enter unpaid out of province tickets into their new computer system. a friend of mine got nipped for a 1984 speeding ticket in 1991.
