Default AB or BC New Year's Getaway ideas

Calling on the CP knowledge.

Some background. Family of 5 (wife and myself, 3 kids: 12, 8 and 20 months).

For the past 3 years we have taken a small getaway for New Year's to Lake Louise (3 nights), do some ice skating, relaxing and eating good; just reconnecting with the family.

Thinking about chaging things up a bit this year, but need suggestions.

Must be a driveable road, although we drive a Sequoia with Michellin Ice-X tires, also must be less than a 5 hour drive.
Although 2 of us snowboard, it is not required/necessary, as the idea is to spend the time as a family.

Any suggestions are more than appreciated.
Thanks!

I know it is not that far, but the Delta Lodge in Kananaskis puts on some great stuff for families at Christmas and New Years. We have spent Christmas there twice and it has been great.

What about Whitefish in Montana? Kimberley, BC is a nice place.

^ Panorama. Excellent facilities. Not too far of a drive from Calgary. Lots of skiing and activities for families to do. I go every year ( not for NYE) and it's something I always look forward to.

what is your budget? although i am thinking that since you ahve been to lake louise, then it must be over $200 per night - if so you will be able to find a palce in panorama on the hill.

if your budget is less, then it will be more difficult - we justed rented a place in radium for the same time frame - we found places on the hill in panorama or whitefish were over the $200 per night mark.

We have stayed at the Fairmont in Lake Louise for the last 3 years, usually for 3 nights, so the budget is around 400 a night.

Would definitively prefer a full service hotel (ie restaurant and pool), not fussed about skiing,

I like the Delta lodge at Kananaskis, as the activities planned for kids/families look awesome.

Again thanks to all

Fernie is nice as is Kimberley. Of the 2 I have found Kimberley to be a more family focused hill (it is much smaller than Fernie).

Both Kimberley and Fernie have full service/ski in/out hotels.

+1 for Whitefish. Awesome family hill. Probably the best family hill I've been to. Fireworks are plentiful.

+2 for Whitefish. If you have not booked anything in Fernie yet you may be SOL.

Thanks to all.

Leaning towards the Delta Lodge at Kananaskis, as they have a whole bunch of activities for the little ones.

Also, can take advantage of the $ 99 season passes we bought in the summer

Again, many thanks to everyone's suggestions and wisdom!
