I remember when he led the NHL in scoring in '02... and also led the Flames to within a goal of the Stanley Cup in '04... being a key factor in 2 Canadian Olympic gold medals in '02 and '10.
Those are things I remember.

Great player, better person. Think the only major award he is missing is the Cup. Clearly still good enough for another shot, which is awesome.

You watch, the Avs will work hard in the off-season on their defense and depth forwards, and all of a sudden they'll be a playoff team again. Who knows if they'll contend for a cup during Iggy's tenure, but being in the playoffs and taking a run is all you can ask for at this stage of his career.

Can't wait till he plays the Lanny McDonald role for the Flames when his current contract expires. It'll be a fairy book ending when he scores the clinching goal in the Stnley Cup Finals and Gio passes the cup to him first.

It is pretty cool, but man that list shows what a miserable season the Avs young talent collectively had. Landeskog, Duchene, O'Reilly, and MacKinnon are all about 20-30 points shy of where players of their talent level should be at.

And thats why the Avs are missing the playoffs.
Iginla is great, but he shouldnt be leading that team in scoring, he was brought in to be a complimentary piece.

Whenever I heard that song on a game day in the playoffs we always lost.
Therefore, I would endure curious stares from my classmates ( I was in gr 9) whenever it played over the PA and I plugged my ears. Can't take chances in the playoffs so...

I'm pleasantly surprised at his season especially considering how the rest of the team has had off seasons. Shame though much like many seasons with the Flames his regular season effort does not lead to the postseason. Doesn't look like he's destined to ever drink from the cup.

What a huge mistake letting Statsny go in favour of Iginla.
Don't think it's a surprise the Avs rookies are having a down year after losing a top line two-way centre and replacing him with a 37 year old winger.
