I was looking to get tickets for the July 7th showing of his documentary movie. But it looks like it's sold out. I can't seem to get tickets online from Cineplex. It also looks like it's only being shown one night. Seems weird.
Agreed on both fronts, very funny stuff. I also love his bits with the chefs.

Tuned in the other night after watching the Daily Show + Colbert Report having some chuckles. As soon as Conan came on I stopped laughing. What happened to this guy he used to be funny.
Pssh, now he gets all the exclusive interviews with all the hottest basic cable TV stars...
Just for fun lets see what recognizable names are on Leno this same week:
M: NPH
T: Jenna Fischer, Cloris Leachman, 3 Doors Down
W: Daniel Craig, , Gavin DeGraw
T: Emma Stone, Adam Carolla
F: Dolly Parton
Conan is getting guests similar to the 2nd tier guys, the 12:30 guys. That's not that shocking considering it's a new show, and on cable. I recognized 6 guests for the record.
That being said... I couldn't give a crap about big name guests. Adam Hardwick is a much more interesting and better guest then Dolly Parton.
Conan's problem isn't guests, is that his show just hasn't lived up to what Conan is capable of. He has to push more, he has to get out of the studio and create more. The "it's gooood" Captain America/Entertainment Tonight thing was funny, at first... but you don't need to do it 50 times a show.
I never turned into Late Night with Conan O'Brien because of the guest list.

There are a few people who always kill when they're on a talk show (Bill Murray, Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, etc.), and Dolly Parton is one of the rare few who, whether you're a fan or not, is always a solid guest.
I haven't seen her on a talk show in a while (and won't see her on Leno), but I can't imagine that's a skill she would lose.

The little skit with the ventriloquist dummies watching that beauty pageant girl was hilarious.

Fair enough.
Honestly my only late night talk show memory is from that classic Johnny Carson bit were he tells her he'd use a years salary to "have a peak under there".
I agree he needs to get out of the studio and do skits. Last time he did something that I can recall was when he picked up co-workers on the way to work, that was pretty funny. I'm so tired of seeing these lame previews for captain America, it wasn't funny the first time it hasnt been the other 20 times. I don't know if they are trying to replicate the success they had from the "Walker Texas ranger lever" by showing these scenes from old tv shows but it isn't working. It seems to me like they really struggling coming up with new skits since they lost so many after leaving NBC.

thing is a show like his lives and dies by the guests, it has do when the interviews make up for half of the runtime. wheras a show like The Daily Show can avoid the celebrities all together because the guest segments are short and Jon Stewart is one of the best in the business at conducting an interesting interview. it doesn't matter who he has on, i almost never skip the interview because Stewart is so good at carrying the conversation (contrast to Colbert who, while i love the show, half the time i skip the interview because him in character just can't carry an interview)
i was really hoping that when Conan left NBC he would so something different. he's a very funny, talented guy, so it sucks to see him holding back because of trying to conform to the same tired old late night format

IMO, he needs to drop the self-deprecating silliness.
You're not a cartoon writer that got a gig anymore, you've been doing this most of your career and you need to drop the crutch of being ashamed of your own show.
After watching him on TBS, it's becoming clear that NBC was right to drop him from a show with prestige.
