A few weeks I was fortunate to have a client meeting in One World Trade Center (aka the Freedom Tower). Brought along the camera to take advantage.

These are from around the 65th floor.

If you thought our Caltrava was expensive...this one is $4 billion! It's pretty spectacular though.

Took this shot with my phone (hence all the noise and blur) before going for a run, in my running paradise here in Fukuoka (Ohori-Koen)

By any chance does anyone in Calgary know someone who does CLA (clean/lube/adjustment) on older cameras? It would be nice not to have to send it out to Toronto and wait 1-2 months to get things back.

Guessing this will change as the Banff Center webcam updates its feed, but the clouds around the mountains look really cool!

There used to be a grumpy Chinese guy doing old camera repairs and service on Centre St., but he's not there anymore.

Call and talk to William at Saneal on 11th (older Asian guy with the beard). He teaches photography at ACAD as well. He wouldn't do it himself, but he knows lots of people in Calgary photo circles and might suggest someone for what you need.

Sweet. I was just about to send it out to a place in Chicago, but maybe I'll do some digging around locally first. It's a real shame that that camera repair, and anything analog-related is such a dying entity here now.

When did his place close down? I remember a place like that, grumpy Asian and all. I can't remember where it was or what the guys name was. The shop was eponymously named. Something like Larry's or Leo's or Jimmy's or Gary's.

Back in 2009ish, I knew he was closing up shop and wanted to swing by last day, last minute to see if there were any steals to be had. Got caught up at work unfortunately, but decided to check it out anyways, even though I was beat. It was literally a dark and stormy night. Dead of winter. Shop was all closed up, but on a whim, I checked out the back alley... and there were boxes upon boxes upon boxes of camera, lenses, parts, miscellaneous crap, all tossed in the dumpster. Most of it was garbage for a reason, but of course I giddily rifled through all of it with frozen hands.

Snagged some old SLRs, rangefinders, box cameras, tons of lenses, polaroids, brownies. Russian, German, Japanese. No Leicas or Hasselblads or anything close really. Tested a handful of the bodies, probably half of them have worked so far. Most of it still sitting in my storage locker mostly untouched, to the chagrin of my better half.

Neatest was a probably a Kodak Colorburst w/ film or these weird German Lordomat rangefinders. Most valuable were probably a some fast Soviet Helios lenses. Yashica Mat 124 maybe would have been the best, but it didn't work.
