Drew has impeccable comedic timing. I believe TPIR will get considerably more hip and humorous.

He will be kissed by more women in his first week as host than in his entire life to date.

Bob was misquoted on that and said so.
and I'll third that Rosie would have sucked as host.

I think Rosie would have brought in the housewife crowd, which still far outnumber the househusband crowd.
We can say X host would be better than Y host, but how many of us are truly addicts to watching "The Price is Right" daily?

I know it's HUGE in the states. Georgia at least. When I worked at the call centre and took calls from Georgia you wouldn't believe how many people had The Price is Right cranked in the background.

Sports related. When CBS shows the NCAA tournament and the 1st round starts on the Thursday and Friday morning and they have to cancel The Price is Right, the people at the CBS call centers get absolutely flooded with complaints every year.

I never understood the appeal of this program. It is really just a 60 minute product advertisement vehicle, disguised as a game show.

I wonder if Drew will favor soldiers in uniform and busty women like Bob seemed to..

I wonder if he'll be asking people to spay or neuter thier pets. I think that would sound pretty creepy coming from an over weight nerdy looking comedian.

I think it's a great choice. I grew up watching this show, and now and for the future I can't really think of a person who is slightly witty, but yet can be serious enough to take seriously as a gameshow host. That Rosie choice would have been a disaster for sure. At least they chose a guy who's a household name. The only bad thing I see is that Drew will get board of the show in a few seasons and leave on his own. If he does stay, I'm sure he could keep the show on for years. He has that appeal that older people will tune in to watch, and the younger generation possibly tune in for the punchline.

This is American capitalism at it's finest, love it or hate it. This show is a non-stop commercial, with some celebrational winning in between.
