Well, that is a matter of personal opinion, even though I think it is coarse and uninformed.
There is nothing like the simple ritual and calm of a Catholic or Anglican service. It allows people to grieve, but also take refuge in the solace of shared prayer and scripture.
More importantly, these beliefs were spoken in the common language, and were believed in by almost everyone. It gave the collective the opportunity to see what death really was (ashes to ashes, and dust to dust), and move on together.
It really helped our societies avoid the absolutely totalitarian outbursts of grief that followed the death of Princess Diana or the false canonization of mediocre personalities as in Carrie Fisher.
I mean, whatever floats your boat.

Maybe for you. Their is nothing I dread more than a Catholic funeral. Boring cult-like rituals of hymns, incense and feedings, usually in a hot building where everyone looks and feels uncomfortable "praying" for it to all be over.
Give me a nice fun gathering friends sharing happy memories over one of those depressing gatherings any day. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

And to address this...
Certainly nice to see calm none of that goes on in the Catholic church.

The more I think about your position on this, the more I realize how ridiculous it is. Christianity is full of celebrity. Hell, Jesus is like the biggest celebrity their is! He had 12 close groupies, plus all the followers at the time. Christians keep crosses and crucifixes to remember and worship his celebrity. Then you've got all the saints, and their statues that people take pilgrimages to to break down in emotions at, and the religious artifacts that people pay money to see. And the gift shops for tacky memorabilia. And lets not forget the Pope, the biggest living celebrity in Christianity who gives sermons to all his fans. All while collecting boatloads of cash and travelling privately, just like all the celebrities do. Do you care to explain the difference?

I'm so glad more and more people are ditching ridiculous religious rituals, and going for more laid back gatherings and simple celebrations of life. Traditional funerals are awful. Been there, done that, hate every second of it. I've been to a couple life celebrations that were an absolute riot. Lots of fond memories, interspersed with a healthy dose of 'roasting' the deceased, and an almost family reunion style atmosphere.
When I'm gone, incinerate my lifeless husk in the most affordable way possible, dump the remains in the tank of my favorite motorcycle, and bury it in the woods somewhere. And one of my friends can have the tankless bike. $500 replacement and you'll have yourself a sweet ass Ducati. Oh and make sure you don't hold back and keep the insult humour going at my expense. I wouldn't want it any other way, and won't care anyway, because I will be in a vacant void of nothingness and won't know I had existed, or ceased to exist. Which is perfectly cool by me.

I'm donating my body to science, no funeral no service no party, I'm just going to fade away.
Chances are that half the people that show up at the funeral would just be to verify that I am actually dead.
And personally I won't care what people are going to say about me.

I'm getting a Young Blood transfusion as we speak from an 18 year old ripped specimen. It's the next best thing to McDavid blood. So far I think it's working as I feel like I have more energy and a more youthful glow. Haven't needed a Viagra pill in weeks. I've been researching vampirism and there may be some breakthroughs that will help me attain immortality.
