Sean Kelso@kelsohockey

@NHLFlames sign goaltender Danny Taylor who has been with Abbotsford. 2nd in the AHL in GAA (1.77) and 4th in save percentage (.930).

Nice payday for Taylor what does that pro rate for each game? Earned it with his play in Abby (don't think he should play but it'll be nice to reward him with a fat cheque)

The injury was just a front because they traded Kipper

I'm guessing Danny Taylors bank account is hoping for Kipper to be out for a good long time.

Nice to see Taylor rewarded for his consistantly good play instead of going outside the organization. Good little payraise when he comes up.

Congrats to him, he really earned it, I was hoping however that we wouldn't have to use up another contract. Guess they didn't or couldn't use a PTO, or kipper is out longer than we think.

Good for Taylor to get a shot at the NHL level. Hopefully him and Irving take full advantage of their opportunities.

Pat Steinberg@Fan960Steinberg

Taylor is 13-9-1 with the Abbotsford Heat. He has a 1.77 GAA and a 0.930 save percentage. #Flames

Everyone saw this one coming. I'm interested to see if this will be similar to the Halak/Elliot starter rotation or if it's Irvings spot to lose.

Yeah, I think for a career AHL guy even a week in the NHL can be crazy good.

Think he'll get any games in over Irving?

If he's just day-to-day then why are the Flames burning a contract slot when they could just use a try-out contract/emergency recall for a few games? Strange choice. Hope Taylor makes the most of whatever chance he get's... not likely to be a spot for him to get an NHL contract with the flames next year.

This guy now becomes a nice trade piece now that he has signed, good for him on the the pay raise but its still Irvings net for now.
