I would say that was definitely the match of the year so far. Rafa-Fed was historically more significant, but this was higher quality, consistently for the entire match from both. Six straight sets going to tiebreaks for Fed-Kyrgios, would love to see them play at the US Open (Nick is too dangerous for Wimbledon). For Kyrgios he's going to be in the top five this year if he can keep it up mentally, he's just too talented to not get there if he keeps the focus. As to Roger...this is absurd.

Oh and the crowd again....so ridiculous. We all love Fed, but come one. Nick was right to be pissed at that one.

yelling at the crowd to shut the f up, smashing a thousand bucks worth of racquets...not classy but whatever. what I hate about Nick is how he treats the people on court. glares and snipes at linespeople, commands ball kids like deaf servants, and then mocks the ump's time violation call even though he was repeatedly over the limit.
I'll take colorful and emotional any day. what I don't want to watch is 3 hours of straight up dick. and despite Roger's diplomatic comments after, you can tell he felt the same when he gave Nick the super short handshake.

He's still got some maturing to do, but if you saw the post-match presser he gave he was actually pretty mature and calm, especially when you compare it to his past ones and the fact he had every right to be furious with the call out up 5-4 in the breaker. But even on Twitter I saw a few players mentioning the advantage Roger has with the crowd being against his opponents. It's one thing to cheer loudly for Roger, it's another to be heavily rooting against his opponent. I don't think it's asking much to not yell during points or to not cheer faults as if they were match points won by Roger.
As for today's final, with the slower Miami courts and Fed's fatigue after two straight finals you gotta like Nadal. Only advantage for Fed is it's a midday start so the courts will be as fast as they can be, even if that's still slow.

4,000 points might have been my hope for the entire year, and he has it in four events. He has confirmed likely only Roland Garros when it comes to clay, so getting to number one is still a tricky task, but with the way it's gone this year he might just get to 6,000 in five events.

I also had money on Rafa today given their cumulative court time and his motivation to tailor a game plan to stop the streak. but Rafa's forehand was just DOA today for no particular reason, other than he's just lost 13 years worth of built up confidence after the Aussie final.
Fed has 1260 points to defend for the remainder of the year, only 270 of which is on clay so that could be more than made up with a QF appearance in Paris. he will still probably need a fairly busy summer/fall hard court schedule to rack up enough for the year end #1, unless he captures another slam.
the biggest question mark is when/if the other half of the Big 4 will resurface. someone needs to print up some missing/lost posters for those guys because there's just been no news lately.

I would guess this is Roger's schedule the rest of the year. I do think he plays in Madrid or Rome before Paris, even if it's a warm up and lose in the second match it's worth playing at least a little competitively, like Dubai before Murica.
Madrid or Rome
Roland Garros
Halle
Wimbledon
Cincinnati
US Open
Shanghai
Paris
World Tour Finals
I don't think he plays Montreal, he likely only plays one of the two pre-US Open 1000 events and his record in Cincinnati is vastly superior than Cananda. And I think if he keeps that schedule (adding Aussie, Dubai, and maybe only Indian Wells and not Miami), he can play another three years and still be in the top 10 most of the time. Which is hilarious to be talking about since I'm sure most of us thought we'd be talking about this being the last year after the injury happened.

Right he does, so I would swap out Shanghai then for Basel. But playing say 12-14 tournaments a year and a well managed schedule should keep him healthy enough to play for a few more years at a high level. Still amazing to be thinking about a few more years when we were all ready for a decline after the injury.
Speaking of not playing at a high level, good news and bad news for Genie. She actually just rose a spot in the rankings....after she lost again in the first round, but at least she get like 10 rankings points for showing up. Four straight first round losses, five straight losses overall, and has lost 8 of her last 11 first round matches. That last stat really makes you wonder how exactly is she still ranked in the top 60 (obviously answer: Women's tennis isn't very strong right now). At this point I would definitely give Roger better odds of still being on tour in three years than Genie.

Anyone hearing anything on the Raonic front?
Seems to be full on radio silence, which isn't surprising at all right now, but I figured he might re-surface ahead of one of the 1000 events in Rome/Madrid coming up on the schedule.

Genie is about to play her first round match...in an ITF event. Good for her to potentially build her confidence, that said is she loses in the first round again that might permanently crush her confidence.

The 23-year-old defeated American qualifier Brianna Morgan 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to win her first match since the Australian Open in January. She will next face world no. 305 Anhelina Kalinina of Ukraine. Bouchard last played on the ITF circuit more than 4 years ago in Phoenix. This is also her first clay event of 2017.
Centre Court matches are being streamed throughout the week on the USTA Livestream.
