I hadn't heard this song in forever. Such a great track.

This is going to sound really weird, but I found myself driving to work and my random track in my car hit this song

I'd forgotten how good Kate Bush is/was.

Then logically I went on a female artist kick and had to listen to some

Everytime I hear them I think of how powerful Anne's voice is and how much of a rocker Nancy is

I used to see these guys live all the time during my undergrad days in Waterloo. These guys had a large following in southern Ontario but never got much traction anywhere else. I thought their first self-titled album was so ahead of its time and I used to compare them to bands like Medeski Martin and Wood and the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy when trying to sell them to my friends. I think an argument can be made that KCS was ahead of their time when you look at the explosion of dance/punk/jazz fusion scene that later emerged in NYC/Brooklyn in the late 90s from bands like the Liars, Radio 4, !!! (chk chk chk), Black Dice, Out Hud, etc. Anyway, nice to see other people keeping great bands like KCS from being lost to the sands of time.

Ever felt overwhelmed by an artist’s extensive back catalog? Been meaning to check out a band, but you just don’t know where to begin? In 10 Songs is here to help, offering a crash course and entry point into the daunting discographies of iconic artists of all genres. This is your first step toward fandom. Take it.

I used to post on a music board where we would do tenners of our favourite bands. It was a great way to discover new music.

Back in my Rock Band days when I frequented the forums, they had a "Rate the song of the user above you" thread. So obviously OP posts, someone replies with a rating, and so on. Now this works best when you pick a song you don't know, but another way to learn some new music.

A couple random sounds:

I still think the album Logic Will Break Your Heart by the Stills in the early 2000s is still one of the best Canadian albums I've ever heard. It's very strong from start to finish, and it has tracks like this one that still stand up to this day. (Special attention to Emily Haines from Metric who makes an appearance in this video)

On a more classic note, I can almost never get enough Tom Waits. I even forget songs are his and then I rediscover them later when re-listening to his albums and think to myself "damn, this is such a good song". Too many examples to list them all here, but here's one that always catches my attention.

After listening to same 10 bands stuff for the last 5 years, I signed up for Spotify and found a bunch of new stuff.
I'm really in love with dirty garage punk recently.

And some goofy Ramones'esqe punk rock

I don't know what to call Twin Peaks, but they're great too

Have been listening to Sun City Girls.. such a weird and prolific band

Mass Nerder could give Ty Segall a try for some good garage noise as well

Yeah, I've been listening to Ty Segal on and off for years. Sometimes I find his voice really grating.
Goggs is a Ty Segal project though. A little more punk and a little less garage for sure. Just as noisy though.

IMO, one of the more underrated bands. Very Pixie influenced.

Been stumbling across some good, new, progressive house lately. Feel like I haven't heard anything decent in this genre in ages so it's been a nice surprise.
