I like this band that's on tonight, Alabama Shakes, but the singer does weird things with her mouth when she sings.

SNL getting all kinds of lash back from their ISIS skit last night, which I thought was meh and really unfunny anyways.

I found ISIS commercial hilarious. "You could've done another year at high school, you know..." was priceless.

For a parent of teenage kids, the "literally can't even" skit was super funny. We had PVR'd it and watched it with our kids this morning and they laughed denying they don't talk like that.

Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett's digital shorts must go. They are so boring, it's pitiful.

The real thing for me on this past SNL was Alabama Shakes. I have heard the name but never seen this band perform. Just makes me feel good that there are so talented young musicians out there producing excellent quality musical performance not based on how they look or dressed. Pure great music. Live. Will follow them for sure from now on.

A question for SNL fans:

We have missed SNL 40th anniversary show live and watched it on Shaw PayTV in a standard (non-HD) definition. However; it appears to have been cut somewhat. The part where Bill Murray goes to the audience and speaks to people was not there. I'm guessing this wasn't the only cut. Also, the after-party is nowhere to be found. Is there a way to watch the full uncut show and the after-party, hopefully in HD?

Bill Murray didn't go into the audience and speak with anyone. Are you possibly thinking of the 25th (I think?) anniversary show?

Seems to be the case. I was told that Murray did the audience improv.

Pretty weak episode in my opinion. I didn't have a problem with the ISIS sketch and thought it was funny.

To be honest, SNL being a little more controversial/edgy might be a good thing. Some of its best moments in history have been controversial, but its pretty safe most of the time, (and seems to be more than usual over recent years.)

Next presidential cycle will give SNL plenty of material. That's when the show shines.

CKUA played Alabama Shakes this morning on the radio. Someone there must watch SNL.

They are well known in that community. I believe they have played Calgary Folk Fest too.

Thought last night with Thor was pretty good, all around.
I don't know much about the Zac brown band, and I ended up skipping some of their first song, but the second song rocked. 6 guys were playing guitars at the same time, crazy. I think it was blue oyster cult that used to have everyone in the band play guitar at the same time.

I thought the dude was very off key with the first song. Second much better, I agree.

Thor was good. I like him and his...talent.

Zac Brown is one of my favorite bands, love his voice

They're known for country music, but that second song was really good

Better episode overall than last one.

Kate should be good as Hillary. I liked her erotic email to Bill.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Congratulations on your continued marital success. I would like to schedule a sit-down at your earliest convenience.

Regards,
The Office of Hillary Clinton

Colin and Michael really gaining traction on Update.

I'm in the minority then, I didn't really like the episode. I didn't think it was terrible, but I thought they just kept going to the "he's a hot, Australian guy" well.

I did enjoy the Thor sketch though. Didn't get the Chicken Captain thing at all.

I actually thought the last episode was one of the worst ones I have seen. The only thing that I enjoyed was Weekend Update. The Thor skit was terrible and so was Brother 2 Brother and the movie set one (I actually stopped watching after the movie set.)

Glad for the Dolce & Gabbana skit. Seems as though it gets more messed up everytime.

I really enjoy this cast. Kyle mooney does cringe comedy very well IMO. The ISIS skit was a meh for me until I saw the exact same commercial as a car commercial where the girl joins the US military. Thought it was pretty funny after gaining context.

Jost and Che are starting to gel nicely on the update desk as well.

The real strength of this cast are the women though. Top to bottom, some funny chicks.

Some were wondering where Jon Hamm was for SNL 40. He is seeking help with alcohol addiction. Good luck Jon, he seems to be one of the good guys:

It's only 1/2 hour into tonights episode with the Rock, and I've had more laughs already than 5 shows worth.
