Risk and Monopoly are the best games out there. Used to play Sorry! alot with the family and big games of Uno when I was younger. I try to get a game going of DVD Movie Triva with friends going, but they never play me because I always win.. losers.
Jeez. That's my family too.

Risk is a great board game. Put me in the minority of absolutely loathing the sight of a Monopoly board.

-Monopoly... but then I always buy all the railroads so I always win so no one ever plays me.
-Boggle...I kick ass at this game so of course no one ever plays me.
-Scrabble... see Boggle
-Balderdash... because you need absolutely no skill to play it.
-Yahtzee... see Balderdash.
-Tribond's also a good one.

Monopoly (Just not Saskatchewan rules.)
Saskatchewan rules? Dare I ask?

It would really suck if they stopped printing Diplomacy ... I would be surprised too, it seems like a fairly popular game. I should look into playing it by email (which I don't generally seem to have the patience for ... playing face-to-face is a lot more fun, but it's hard to get 6 other people together)

I played once, with a couple of, er, Saskmites, brothers (actually not very bright either) and their rules allowed you to borrow copious amounts of money from the bank, no interest, no payment schedule, just a simple IOU. The game went on forever, it's no wonder the province is broke.

I love the FTF Dip, but man is it ever a marathon if you manage to survive into the late stages of the game. Played one game that went for 18 hours from start to finish. It's really hard to keep your concentration for that long, especially with the board so full and so many potential moves are available.

Go to www.diplom.org if you're interested in playing by email.

I'm bumping this thread because board games are awesome.

We've been playing a card game called Citadels at work so much we started a league. I highly recommend it to everyone.

We've been discussing some other games to try as well:

Carcassonne
Puerto Rico
Game of Thrones LCG
Settlers of Catan

It's a great way to spend the lunch hour while we eat - you can only talk about the Flames and zombies so often.

Is Citadels similar to Dominion in anyway? I only wonder because I really dislike Dominion.

My Top 5 - no particular order

Rails of Europe
Memoir 44
Brass
Game of Thrones
Space Hulk

Honerable Mention

Power Grid
Settlers
Stock Ticker
Ticket2Ride

Axis & Allies. Best game ever made. Risk seems like a childs game after playing A&A. I've introduced that game to a number of Risk players and none of them have ever gone back to Risk.

Wow I read all through this thread before I realized it was 6 years old. Wow epic bump!!

Anyways my favorite is Monopoly, I have about 12 different versions from NHL to a limited release of Star Wars, and it was before the release of the new movies so it is the good old movies only.

I was just gonna say that.

The one game I would like to play more but it never gets to the table because of the time commitment is Die Macher. Best with 5 and takes 3-5 hours depending how familiar the group is with the game. If there are any fans out there, pipe up!

Sorry Myk I've never played Dominion. Citadels is building districts to complete your city - game ends and points are counted when the first person gets to 8 districts.

Each round starts with each player secretly selecting one of eight characters that have different abilities and benefits they receive from certain districts:
Assassin,Thief,Magician,King,Bishop,Merchant,Archi tect, and Warlord. You play out the round in the order listed above and then select a character again.
