No, this thread was created by someone else. I call them huggable, since I grew up respecting officers as a child, and often treat them with respect if I was ever in trouble. I was always polite and compliant. It does not hurt that I am of Northern European ancestry, and am of similar size. I guess they have been easy on me, and given me breaks numerous times.
In some cases of Police "brutality" the perpetrators have only themselves to blame. If you treat a Police Officer like crap, and try to run or resist arrest, you are asking for trouble. Police are human beings too. There are some bad apples, but my experiences with the CPS have been mainly positive.
I hae never tried it, but if I gave a CPS officer a hug, he would probably hug me back.

You should try it, it will go well.
And the best hugs are the ones that catch people by surprise.

This is the definition of privilege.
You (me too) my virtue of being white have not had negative interactions with the Police. Even when doing really stupid things I was driven home instead of being arrested. This experience is not universal.
I don't see how in the context of this incident where when a gun was pulled he surrendered you can say it's your own fault if you don't listen to police.

Yelling allahu Akbar while hugging the cop is also known to show love for the work they do.

Yes, and that trouble should always be limited entirely to legal trouble. Not getting the #### beat out of you.

Certainly not going to condone beating someone once they are in cuffs or in excess of what is required to subdue them, but sometimes the situation would call for a cop to use force to gain control of a situation. Fighting with a cop while resisting arrest or fleeing is going to get you a degree of physical harm, the only way to avoid it would be to not resist arrest or flee in the first place

There are a lot more than 1 who are testifying from my understanding. I know a couple officers and from everything I've heard there is support for the testifying officers, not for the accused, which really is how it should be

Not a good news day for the force today.
Evidence in the ongoing trial is very troubling:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgar...hree-1.4259031
And new charges being announced on a member who is already suspended pending an upcoming criminal trial:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgar...ough-1.4259550
These are all, of course, just allegations still but it really causes one to seriously question how is it that there are so many instances where there are reasonable grounds to believe that Calgary's sworn police officers are committing very serious criminal offences.

Scoring Winger

About 15 years ago there was someone sleeping under my loading dock and I couldn't get him out so I called the police. The officer picked him up and threw him to the ground and then kicked him hard a number of times. I was cringing. After that I dealt with these things myself and I never called the police.

In Saskatoon it was common for the Police to drop off Natives outside the city and let them walk back. Sometimes without shoes in winter. At least two people were killed this way.
